Sun Tips For Summer

The last thing you want this summer is to end up with a crazy burn that hurts for days. But seriously, the sun can actually be a little dangerous if you aren't careful, skin cancer is a very real thing and can happen from not preparing your body correctly on those blistering hot days when the sun doesn't stop shining. To avoid those pesky burns, age spots, wrinkles and possibly something even worse, follow these sun tips for the rest of the summer.

Use Sunscreen

This seems like such an obvious one but yet so few people actually use it. Using sunscreen can not only prevent you from getting burned, but can also limit your chances of skin cancer. Don't worry, just because you use sunscreen doesn't mean you aren't going to get tan, because you will. It will just keep you from getting burned and having to apply aloe to your body for the next two weeks, or even the whole summer.

Wear Hats

Now this one can be fun. You can go with your traditional baseball cap, or you can head to the store and find a fun sun hat that matches your bathing suit. Worried about hat hair? Who cares, it's summer and our hair can suffer for a few hours so our skin doesn't have to.

Wear Sunglasses

Yes, besides being cute your sunglasses actually have a very practical use. Yes, they also keep the sun out of your eyes on sunny days, but they are also working to protect your eyes if you buy the right ones. Wearing sunglasses actually block your eyes from the UV rays and can reduce the risk of cataracts. Wearing sun glasses can also protect the skin around your eye, which is extremely sensitive.

Seek Shade

Yes, also very obvious. During the midday hours, try to get out of the sun for just a little bit to reduce the risks of getting burned or other threats. At this point in the day, it is usually the hottest outside, so being under shade won't keep your from the warm weather, just protect your body from the dangers the sun may pose.

Don't get me wrong, I love to be in the sun. Just because there are dangerous that come from it, doesn't mean you have to hide from it all together, but jus be smart, know the risks and protect your body.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
