11 Summer Travel Essentials

With summer rapidly approaching, people may be traveling, exploring and venturing to new places. When you leave home and go somewhere unfamiliar, there are a few necessities that are important to bring with you so that you are prepared for whatever may come your way. It's easy to forget things in the midst of stressful packing, so here's a quick little list of summer travel essentials to make the dreaded packing experience a little easier for you.

1. Passport

If you're traveling out of the country, having your passport is a must. It's also a good idea to take photos of your passport, driver's license, or any other form of identification you have with you while you traveling in case you are unlucky enough to lose your passport or other form of ID. You can also purchase passport cases that have spaces for all of your credit cards, ID, and passport so you have all of what you need all in one convenient spot.

2. Immune system boosting medicine

When traveling to new places, your body's immune system may be at risk of being compromised and when you are tired, jet-lagged and in a new environment, you may be more susceptible to illness. Nothing is worse than being sick on vacation, so make sure you are proactive and bring immune boosting medicine like Emergen-C with you when you travel. Especially on airplanes, sickness can spread quickly in an enclosed space, so it's smart to take every precaution possible!

3. Clothes for Layering

You never know what the weather will end up being like wherever you are traveling, so it's smart to bring extra clothes or layering in case you are cold or uncomfortable in a new climate. If you're hot, you can always take layers off, but if you're cold and you don't have warm clothes, you're out of luck.

4. Sunscreen

The skin you have now is the only skin you'll ever have, so it's important to protect it. Regardless of what climate you are traveling to, it's always a good idea to bring sunscreen to protect your skin.

5. Extra Money

Especially if you're traveling out of the country where there currency is different, it's always smart to bring some extra cash in that country's currency just to have for right when you arrive. In case of emergencies, or in case of something going wrong, it's always a good idea to have some cash on hand.

6. Headphones

When you're traveling, most likely you will be using a plane, train or some form of transportation and it's a good idea to bring entertainment for the ride. Headphones that block out noise are always a good idea in case there's a particularly annoying person sitting next to you on the plane, and also are a great way to listen to music, watch movies or find a form of entertainment.

7. Cell Phone

When you're traveling, it's important to have a way to stay in touch with your friends and family back home. Having your phone is absolutely necessary especially if you have a smart phone, because from there you can do mobile banking, download apps that help you learn new languages, and document your experiences all on your smart phone.

8. Camera

If you're anything like me, when you are traveling, you will want to take photos to document your trip and all of your experiences while you are in a new place. It's important to bring a camera, charger, and extra memory space so you can take as many photos as you want.

9. A sturdy bag

While you're traveling, you will need something to carry your necessities in. You will need a strong bag where you can store your camera, phone, extra sweater and any other things you bring with you that day.

10. Raincoat or Umbrella

Because climate is always an unpredictable factor, it's smart to bring a raincoat or umbrella with you so that you can continue with you adventures even in the event of a downpour. Being overly prepared is never a bad thing.

11. A Positive Attitude

When you're traveling, a multitude of things can go wrong and may be out of your control, so it's important to stick with a positive attitude at all times, despite catastrophes that may happen. It's something you can look back at and laugh in the future, as long as you remain flexible and positive you are guaranteed to have a great trip!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
