1. Captain America: Civil War
If you haven't caught this flick yet, you're missing out. It's a major part of the Marvel Universe and will be important context for upcoming Marvel movies. Most people are pretty distinctly either Team Captain America or Team Iron Man, so pick a team and head to the theater.
2. Love and Friendship
This Jane Austin-esque movie captures the glory of the era with the wit
and sarcasm of modern times. This movie is critically acclaimed and
stars the amazing, beautiful, talented Kate Beckinsale. The comedy is
gold and elevates this movie beyond a simple chick flick.
3. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising
One of the movies I've looked forward to year all year. Not only was
Neighbors #1 so hilarious I would be looking forward to any sequel, but I
personally find most movies involving sororities amazing (Legally
Blonde, Sorority Wars and Sydney White, just to name a few). If it came
out during the school year, I would have gone out to see it with my
sorority sisters but I still get to see it with my biological sister
here in Florida.
4. X-Men: Apocalypse
While it seems like this is the thousandth X-Men movie made, it's been a
few years and I can only hope that at this point they're only making
movies when they have a good cast and decent plot. Also, I have serious
FOMO now that Deadpool has really entered this universe with his own
movie (I don't really count that X-Men Origins movie, but who does?).
5. Finding Dory
While I feel like no one is looking forward to this movie quite like
Ellen Degeneres herself, I might be a close second. I don't quite think
people will be lining up to watch the midnight showing, but I, myself
am strongly considering it. It's a sequel to a childhood classic.
Where can you go wrong?
6. The BFG
I don't know about you, but I grew up reading the BFG! So excited they
made a live action movie of the book and cannot wait to see how it turns
out. If you didn't read the book growing up it was written by Roald
Dahl who is most famously the author of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory. If that's not enough to entice you, it's directed by Steven
Spielberg.
7. The Legend of Tarzan
Apparently this summer is full of nostalgia because Disney continues
it's series of live action renditions (also including The Jungle Book,
Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella) making Tarzan the latest to join
the series. I'm excited to see how this is portrayed and if the
chemistry and magic of the original remains.
8. The Secret Life of Pets
If you haven't seen the trailer for this movie, stop reading this
article and watch it right now. It looks downright hilarious. Disney
has been killing it this year and this will no doubt be a wonderful
addition to the Disney franchise.
The line up this summer looks great, so grab your popcorn and enjoy!
P.S. the blue color theme was entirely coincidental. Lol.
