A summer in Texas isn't complete without some very important stops along the way. This list includes some good old favorite haunts of the North Texas area!
5. Country Dancing
There's something about a trusty wooden dancehall floor and dancing the night away with good friends that makes you never want the summer to end. As being a regular of the old Cowboys in Arlington and spending many nights at Red River and Billy Bob's, two-stepping comes in high on my list of things to do for the summer.
4. Bedford Snowball
An all time favorite of mine: a snow cone place put into a house and selling every flavor from traditional to crazy combos. Another crazy cool concept offered at Bedford is the chance to add gummy bears to your favorite snowball. From sizes in a Dixie cup on up to a large fountain drink, the possibilities are endless but the taste and flavors sure aren’t. If you ever want to get on my good side, you can always bring me peach with gummy bears.
3. Waterparks
Um, hello— 100 degree days and a park full of nothing but water? Sign me up! Laying on a lounge chair and sliding down slides into 12 feet of water is the prime example of a great day in Texas. Whether it's Hawaiian Falls, NRH2O, Hurricane Harbor or even a community pool, if you need me, that's where I'll be.
2. Lonestar Horse Racing
As March turns to April and the heat starts to get near the 80's, Lonestar Park in Grand Prairie kicks off the summer with a great set of Summer Concert Series full of country artists, late nights, good music and live horse races directly before the concerts. With five to seven shows before the end of summer and only costing $5 before 8 p.m., Lonestar is a great way to kick off the weekend and end it.

1. Texas Rangers Games
For me, the start of the summer isn't official until I attend my first game of the season. A wide open stadium with America's pastime wouldn't be complete without an ice cold coke, some salted peanuts and a variety of State Fair-styled fried foods and Texas-sized loaded hot dogs. And who doesn't love starting the weekend off with a music-laced fireworks show on a Friday night after adding a tally to the "Win" column? Dot races, the Kiss Cam and the Race for the Base are just some of the many draws to a Home Game at Globe Life Park.
