I've lived in Grove City, Ohio for 19 years, and one thing I can vouch for is that you can get very bored, very fast. To help my fellow citizens not be struck by eternal boredom, I've compiled a list of every possible outing I can think of, and it's even family friendly.
1. AMC Theatres
This theater is still relatively new (after putting Star Cinemas out of business) and is the place to be any night of the week and any time of the day to catch a new release. (Located off of Stringtown Road and Buckeye Parkway)
2. Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream
You can never go wrong with a frozen treat. The ice cream and frozen yogurt selection in Grove City includes Oh-Yo (pictured, and conveniently placed right next to the movie theater), two seperate Dairy Queen locations, Coldstone Creamery, the section at UDF, and most fast food locations like McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, and Wendy's.
3. Putt and Play
A great destination for nice weather and it's fun for all ages! Not only do they have an 18 hole putt-putt area, but they also have batting cages and soccer cages, an indoor arcade and a room inside where events can be held. Located off of Stringtown Road.
4. The Big Splash
Located behind Brookpark Middle School, this outdoor water park has two large slides, an area for child play, a large pool that goes up to 6 feet on the far end, a sand volleyball court and plenty of chairs to lay out and tan!
5. Visit the Great Outdoors
The grand opening of the new Scioto Grove Metro Park was this month, and it will be a great place to be this summer! There are also other parks and playgrounds in Grove City to visit such as Gantz, Beulah Park and Fryer Park (see more below on Fryer).
6. Flicks at Fryer
A great way to spend a summer night! Fryer Flicks on the Hill is a free, family-friendly outdoor movie series for the Grove City community. Movies are shown on a large inflatable screen at dusk on the sledding hill at Fryer Park, 3899 Orders Road, Thursdays, from June 9 through July 28. If necessary, rain dates are schedule in early August.
Here is the schedule for this year:
June 9: "Aladdin" (PG)
June 16: "Cinderella" (PG)
June 23: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (PG)
June 30: "The Boxtrolls" (PG)
July 7: "Dolphin Tale 2" (PG)
July 14: "Max" (PG)
July 21: "Inside Out" (PG)
July 28: "Minions" (PG)
Saturday, July 16, the hill will be turned over to the adults for a screening of "The Intern" beginning at 7 p.m.. There will be food trucks!
7. Go to the Gym
My new found favorite thing to do. I'm kind of strange. The membership is completely worth it, I feel, and they have a pool, hot tub and sauna to reel you in.
8. Go out to Dinner on Stringtown
The options are endless, really. Any kind of food you want, you'll be able to find it. This map doesn't even show a quarter of the available choices.
9. Thrift Shopping
This may not be your thing, but we have two Ohio Thrift Stores as well as a Plato's Closet. You're bound to find something cool.
10. Go to the Library
This image right here is what our new, extremely large library will look like. This will be completed by this summer, but in the meantime we have a normal library right down the street (both right off of Broadway).
11. Bowling
Stardust lanes is currently Grove City's only functioning bowling alley, but it works perfectly fine and is a fun pastime. They have over 20 lanes, an arcade and a great eating area. Don't forget about two dollar Tuesdays!
12. Skate America
Located towards the far end of Broadway. A good time if you're looking for an old-school roller skating feel.
13. Petland Puppies
There's honestly no better way to spend a night than playing with puppies. This is located on 665.
14. Take a Stroll Down Broadway
You never know what you will find. There are so many great little shops, diners, and historical landmarks! Visit the Grove City Historical Museum while you are at it. It's extremely interesting.
15. Trapper John's Canoe and Livery
Spend a day out on the river kayaking, canoeing or tubing!
Up and Coming: A new trampoline park and a foot golf course!
