Winter is the worst. Whether you love cold weather (if so, please explain this to me, because I do not understand) or absolutely despise it, there's one thing about it that is just cruel: you have to abandon all of your adorable summer clothing. All of those gorgeous tank tops and rompers you splurged on are deemed utterly useless once good ol' Santa Claus comes to town.
Not to mention the fact that most places are heated, so if you wear a heavy sweater, you're likely to be sweating to death within five minutes of being exposed to heat. If you're like me and won't take no for an answer in regards to abandoning summertime, here are some tips to heat up that wardrobe of yours!
1. Denim jackets
Pop a denim jacket or shirt over your tank top & it's pretty much a sweater, right?
2. Button-up shirts or flannels
Same goes with flannels or button-ups. Think they're only good for fall just because "they" say so? Think again. They can be just as useful in the winter.
3. Cardigan or blazer
A more professional-looking approach to the previous two, using a cardigan or blazer over a tank top makes you look super cute and super powerful.
4. Leggings under shorts
Proceed with caution, but if matched right, this combo can extend the life of your favorite pair of shorts significantly. Just be sure not to mix patterned leggings with patterned shorts. Exercise caution.
5. Leggings under dresses and skirts
Have a dress you bought for the summer that still haunts you in your dreams? Slap a pair of leggings under it and you're in the clear, lady.
6. Button-up/leggings combo
Combine number three with number five to be warm from head to toe! (Except maybe wear boots or something, not flats like the picture shows.)
7. Leggings under romper
Once again, a pairing of leggings and a romper may not work all the time, but it's definitely doable.
8. Tank top over long-sleeved shirt
Want to wear a tank top but don't like leaving your chest exposed to the harsh winds? Throw it over a long-sleeve shirt, either plain or button-up, and you're set to go.
9. Scarves. Just scarves.
...or just slap a scarf over it and call it a day.
10. Fleece-lined leggings
They're like sweatpants, but leggings. Wear them alone to hearken back to the good ol' days where you wouldn't freeze your ass off in leggings, or pair them with any of the applicable combos above for extra coziness.
11. Hide in your warm bed until Mother Nature gets her sh*t together
Or this. Probably the best approach to dealing with cold weather. Stay warm, my friends.
