Summer Classes
Her Campus

I know, I know, we all had the same thought, "Summer classes won't be that bad, what else am I going to do with my time?" Well, yeah that was a good joke. No worries though, you are almost at that finish line!

We all want one thing; we want to get ahead, or catch up in our classes. We all have one common goal, we all want to just pass. Keep your head up, and as Dory says, "Just keep swimming."

So that dreaded day one comes around, and it is not too bad, its only orientation. No big deal. You move through the orientation without hesitation, and you think to yourself, "Oh I got this. This is going to be a breeze." Then, on to day two.

Day two is the dreaded "Oh crap, this is a real class." It hits you hard. Real hard. You are able to do the first few assignments, and readings because you tell yourself you are very responsible, and you are also scared of wasting your parents money. Let's be real, we just don't want mom and dad to stop paying tuition.

This class is six weeks long. No big deal right? A normal semester is about 15 weeks long. So six weeks sounds like a breeze. The first two weeks are a no brainer. You have the routine down. Wake up, eat breakfast, try to convince yourself to not do class today, and then you end up doing class.

Week three rolls around, and this is where it starts to get to you. You just don't want to do anything. You are like "It's freaking summer! Why did I do this to myself!?" Just keep swimming though! It's week three which means you are halfway through!

Week four comes about, and it makes you smile when you tell yourself that there are only two weeks left. Then your professor sends out the guidelines for your final project. You think to yourself "Seriously? A project, and an exam?? Why??" Don't worry though, it really can't be that bad. Remember, the professor has to sit down, and grade all of these lovely assignments, so don't get too overwhelmed.

Week five. That awful week five. This is just a normal week, but it is one week before the class is over. It is like a teaser. The professors want you to think that you are almost in the clear, and that things are going to get better, but just wait. This is when the pile on a million more assignments on top of your final project being due in one week. One week!! I am not kidding when I say a million more assignments. It is literally a million more.

Okay, I might be exaggerating, but it definitely feels like a million more. So, you get through week five, because you are just awesome, and you know it. You have done five weeks of summer classes, it doesn't get much worse, so you got this. Only one week to go!

The last week makes you feel like you are going insane. Week six. Your final project is due by Thursday at 10 P.M. and you have to study for your final that is Friday morning. Take a deep breath, its the last week and then you are free. Keep singing to yourself "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming!"

You are free!! You have done it! You made it through a six week summer class. Nothing feels better than not having to check your school email eight times a day. You can finally enjoy your summer! You can finally go get tan, and stop staring at a computer screen. Well most of us can...as long as you passed. Although I'm sure you did. You just kept swimming, and you made it!

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,

After packing two oversized suitcases and two carryons with all the boho chic clothes I thought I needed to travel across the country for my dream internship, I quickly realized that although I may look like I belong out in the entertainment capital of the world there was a lot more to it than Free People dresses and fanny packs.

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,
September: Los Angeles

Ever since I was younger I dreamed of moving out to California. There was something so amusing about being in the hub of it all that bursts with passion and artistry wherever you look. After a trip to LA when I was a sophomore in high school for dance, I fell even more in love with this utopia of a city and from that moment on, Los Angeles was that light at the end of the tunnel.
