With the school year coming to an end and summer quickly approaching, it can be an exciting time for everyone. People are graduating, finals are over with, and we are finally getting a break from school. To help keep the excitement alive, here are some fun summer activities you can do with your friends so that way you’ll never have to experience that summer boredom.

  1. Go on a road trip with your best friends.
  2. See a drive-in movie.
  3. Go fishing.
  4. Go to an amusement park.
  5. Visit your local fair.
  6. Go to a concert.
  7. Pick up a new hobby.
  8. Getting dressed up with your friends and have a photoshoot.
  9. Get a fun summer job.
  10. Try a new restaurant.
  11. Hang out at the library for a day.
  12. Play miniature golf.
  13. Go to a waterpark.
  14. Have a bonfire.
  15. Get a summer internship.
  16. Have a sleepover with your friends.
  17. Get dressed up for no reason and go to a fancy restaurant.
  18. Go skydiving.
  19. Tie dye tshirts.
  20. Take your dog for a walk.
  21. If you don’t have a dog? Visit your local animal shelter.
  22. Volunteer.
  23. Have a lake day.
  24. Play basketball/baseball/football or any other sport with your friends.
  25. Have a cookout.
  26. Or a picnic in the park.
  27. Spent the night catching fireflies.
  28. Camping.
  29. Go scuba diving.
  30. Go kayaking.

  33. Step out of your comfort zone and face one of your fears.

  40. Make new friends by hanging out with people you don’t normally hang out with.
  41. Go spend a day at the pool.

  45. Have a stay at home spa day.
  46. Learn a different language.
  47. Run/walk a 5K.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
