...an opportunity for me to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually

Summer Beach Project

I have become a part of UNA’s Campus Outreach program and this has helped guide me in my walk and stay true to Jesus. I have also been given the opportunity to attend Summer Beach Project. The cost of this project is $1850 and I am asking anyone who is willing to help me in my my journey and strengthening my walk with the Lord to assist me in this. All donations are tax deductible. I need not only financial support but prayers as well. Both will be GREATLY appreciated.

What is Summer Beach Project? Summer Beach Project with Campus Outreach Birmingham provides an opportunity for college students, like me, to participate in a summer of spiritual training that will prepare me to walk with the Lord for a lifetime. As students we will work full-time jobs while participating in weekly project-wide rallies, evangelistic outreaches, corporate worship, socials, and discipleship groups. Summer Beach Project will allow me to better my relationship with Christ and surround me with students my age who want to do the same. It will help me grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ by learning more about studying the Bible, praying, building relationships with other college students, working a full-time job, sharing my faith and attending a local church. My investment of nine weeks during the summer is designed to help me grow in my personal relationship with God and learn how to impact others for Jesus Christ. This project will teach me to be a better young Christian and provide me with friendships and memories I will have for the rest of my life.

For many young Christians, high school and college is a struggle. With school work, social life, and everything in between, it becomes difficult to stay true in your walk with Jesus. Adding the list of temptations that comes from being away from home, along with everyday culture, it can seem almost impossible to live as a Christian. I will admit it has been one of my toughest tasks trying to stick to my path and be the person Jesus wants me to be. However, prayer undoubtedly has saved me from so many toxic situations.

1 Cor. 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” This proves true because every temptation can be easily avoided by just walking away.

1 Cor. 15:13 says “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” This shows the importance of surrounding yourself with people who want good for you, people that better you. It is so easy to become surrounded by people who make it easy for you to stray away from God.

Galatians 5:16-18, is possibly the most important by saying, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Taking time to read my Bible, surround myself with Christian friends, and being involved in Campus Outreach has helped with most of the temptations of college.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
