The summer of 2018 brought us an abundance of new music! There were multiple single and album releases that helped me create my perfect summer playlist.

Here are my most played tracks of the summer:

Peace - Power

After a label change and a three-year music hiatus, Peace came back with their third album, "Kindness Is the New Rock and Roll."

"Kindness Is the New Rock and Roll" was released on May 4th and it received an 8/10 review by NME Magazine and The Independent.

"Power" was one of the first singles off the album and it makes an awesome summer song! Peace did an amazing job coming back with this album.

Albert Hammond Jr - Far Away Truths

Albert Hammond Jr, also known as the lead guitarist of The Strokes released his fourth solo album, "Francis Trouble" this year.

The single, "Far Away Truths" makes the perfect summer song! Its fun, upbeat, and has the familiar Strokes vibe to it. "Far Away Truths" was definitely one of the most played songs on my playlist!

Arctic Monkeys - Four Out Of Five

Arctic Monkeys released their fifth studio album "AM" in 2013. After the release of their widely successful album, the band took a five-year hiatus.

On May 11th, Arctic Monkeys came back with their sixth studio album, "Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino." The album is much different than any other album they have put out before. Critics said it was best described as a mixture of Bowie vibes and rap beats.

"Four Out Of Five" was definitely one of my most played songs of the summer as it was a very different track for the Arctic Monkeys!

Sticky Fingers - Kick On

The Australian rock band, Sticky Fingers came back from their hiatus with the release of their single, "Kick On." "Kick On" was released on April 13th.

The band proceeded to go on a world tour over the summer after their two year hiatus.

The single definitely has a upbeat and energetic vibe to it making it an awesome summer single!

The Hunna - Fever

After a successful debut album, The Hunna came back with an incredible sophomore album! Their sophomore album known as "Dare" came out on July 13, 2018!

There are too many songs to pick a favorite, but "Fever" is definitely one of the most catchy and a great tune to listen to while driving or sitting by the pool!

The Voidz - Leave It in My Dreams

Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of The Strokes has been involved in many different projects including solo work and his second band, The Voidz.

The Voidz released their sophomore album "Virtue" on March 30, 2018. My favorite song on the album is "Leave It in My Dreams." I played it on repeat throughout the summer!

The Knocks - Ride Or Die (feat. Foster The People)

Foster The People and The Knocks teamed up to make one of the best songs of the summer! "Ride or Die" is catchy, energetic, and has an awesome beat plus killer vocals!

This collaboration received a lot of attention on the charts for multiple different genres! It was definitely one of the most popular songs over the summer!

The 1975 - Love It If We Made It

The 1975 returned with a killer single named "Love It If We Made It." The single demonstrates strong vocals from singer, Matty Healy and has a crazy story to it.

The lyrics focus on what is going on in the world politically and Healy brings up his struggle with drug addiction. The song is so powerful and really catchy. One of my favorite singles of the summer!

Pale Waves - Noises

Pale Waves released an abundance of singles in preparation for their debut album this summer! My favorite single was definitely "Noises."

Not only is the music video awesome, but Heather Baron Gracie's vocals are great especially when matched with a cool beat!

DMA'S - For Now

The DMA'S released their sophomore album, "For Now," in April of 2018! The band came back with an awesome new record that impressed their fans and lead them to tour all over the UK!

The band definitely proved themselves with this record and had an awesome Oasis sound to their new singles. My most played single from this new album is "For Now!" It has great vocals and a unique sound!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
