Summer '16 Movies We're Ready To See

Summer is practically screaming my name right now. We're running in slow motion to each other and it seems like we'll never get there. One of my favorite things I look forward to in summer is MOVIES! Most of the big hit come out during this time and they're a lot that we've been waiting for years to see! Sequels that are long over due and book to movie adaptations. Dear movie industry makers, thank you satisfying our thirsty movie needs. However, on behalf of the summer movie lovers, please do not disappoint because I'm bout to hype up the following titles like this is Beyonce's new album!

1. Finding Dory *Release Date: June 17th

No but we've seriously been waiting for 13 years come May 30th. We were looking for this sequel every since we saw at the end of movie that Dory started living Nemo and his dad. That's a story in itself. Makers, you could make a movie called "A day in the life of Dory" and you could still hit top box office sales! Everyone who loves Finding Nemo is going to hit up this movie.

2. Conjuring 2 *Release Date: June 10th

Literally everyone was talking about the first movie and how crazy scary it was! I don't think it was too scary but it definitely had me jumping at some parts and then feeling a bit creeped out. I think this movie is more of "I wonder what they're going to show next," rather than "that was hands down best scary movie I gotta see the next one." I'm curious to see how this turns out. If it's anything like "Sinister 2", I will be greatly disappointed.

3. Captain America: Civil War *Release Date: May 6th

Mostly all Marvel movies have hit top box office sales over the years so this one without a doubt will have a great turnout. I mean Iron Man and Captain America are having beef and the team is split on which side to pick. Lihh I gotta know how this going to turnout!

4. X-Men: Apocalypse *Release Date: May 27th

Do I need to explain why everyone need to go see this? Not only does it have an amazing cast but its X-MEN! This is example of a perfect sequel movie. I don't feel like each movie they're doing too much. Each movie has a purpose and tells more of the whole X-Men story and their characters. This (I believe) is the last one -- don't quote me on that! But you can't tell me you're not at all excited to see Hugh Jackman again!

5. Independence Day: Resurgence *Release Date: June 24th

They legit play this movie every Independence Day so if you've never seen it or heard about it then do you even live in America? Though Will Smith won't be in it, I'm still hyped to see it because they still have Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, and Vivica's now grown son! Like, how is this going to work?? What's happening?? Can you imagine though? With the development of CGI graphics over the years and the level of amazing has increased over years...can you imagine what the aliens will look like now?? I am beyond ready for this movie!

6. The Purge: Election Year *Release Date: June 24th

The first purge was alright. New concept of the all crime is legal for 24 hours thing. Blew my mind imagining if that was a thing. Then Anarchy comes out and I wasn't at all expecting it to be as good but I was thoroughly entertained and invested in the story line. For me, hands down one of the best movies. Now I'm extremely curious on what this next one has to offer. In the trailer, I was kind of disappointed because they gave away almost the whole premise of the movie. I despise trailers where after I can closely predict what's going to happen in the movie. Nonetheless, I'm still looking forward to this one.

7. Ghostbusters *Release Date: July 15th

We all know how big the first movie was, now imagine this one! And are you even aware of the cast for this movie?? It's like the best female SNL actresses, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy! You ain't ready! And again with increase in CGI graphics this movie is going to be mind blowing.

8. Ice Age: Collision Course *Release Date: July 22nd

Another greatest kids movie of all time given a sequel! Who knew a sloth, a saber tooth tiger, and a mammoth could produce two great movies and now with this third one it's going to be a hit! However, I'll probably wait till this one comes out on DVD depending on what my college bank account says. A lot of kids will be coming out to see this one.

Honorable mentions:

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass *Release Date: May 27th

The Angry Birds Movie *Release Date: May 20th

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows *Release Date: June 3rd

Now You See Me 2 *Release Date: June 10th

Warcraft *Release Date: June 10th

The Legend of Tarzan *Release Date: July 1st

BFG *Release Date: July 1st

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
