As a college student you may feel like having business cards is something that you do not really need at the moment. Truth is, as a college student you NEED business cards and I am going to tell you why.

As a college student you should always be looking for networking opportunities. If you are out somewhere and you meet a person that you would like to follow up with or someone you might want to follow up with you then you could easily give them your business card. You do not want to waste time by rambling through your purse or pockets, or running around asking someone for a pen and paper to write down your contact information. Nine times out of ten, you and that person do not have time to waste!
2. Business Cards Speak Professionalism
Carrying business cards show that you mean business and it shows that you are passionate about networking and finding opportunities. If a company has spent the entire day talking to students, giving them information and handing out the company's business cards, it is likely that they could possibly forget your face or get you mixed up with another student. However, if you have a business card to hand back to the company your chances of being remembered are higher than those students who did not have a business card.
3. Personal Branding
When you think of branding, I know you might think of branding in a sense of companies building their brand to sale a specific product. But YOU are also a brand. As a perspective graduate, you should start now by branding yourself in a certain way. How do you want to be viewed? How are you making sure you are branded in the matter? Business cards are a great way to start building your brand and standing out amongst your peers.
4. A Few Other Tips
If you are a broke, cheap, college student like me then you probably do not want to break your pockets on purchasing business cards! Well, no worries there are a ton of places where you can get inexpensive business cards like Staples and Vistaprint.
Make sure that your business cards show your personality and be sure to highlight the main components of who you are and what you want to accomplish!
