On October 24, 2015, tragedy struck in Stillwater, OK. A woman drove her car through a parade, killing four and injuring about fifty innocent bystanders of the homecoming parade. This incident sent shock waves through Oklahoma and the rest of the nation. After the tragedy that happened at the Oklahoma State homecoming parade. A student group called Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, decided that they needed to help in some way. They decided to raise money for victims in the homecoming accident by hosting the Stillwater Strong Homecoming Memorial Run. Within a few weeks, they were able to raise $6,500 and had a huge run. The run was a success, and even better, they made a difference.
A year has rolled around and this group of students wanted to continue to help. Delta Sigma Pi partnered with the Oklahoma State University Foundation and was able to come up with the Cowboy Strong Run. This run benefits the Cowboy Strong Student Emergency Need Fund. This fund was created to help other students who are put in unforeseen tragic situations, similar to what happened at the homecoming accident. This fund is a one of a kind. There is nothing else like it. The goal is to have students helping other students. Through the run, we hope to raise $7,000 and have a total of 300 runners.
The Cowboy Strong Run will be hosted Saturday, October 22. It includes a 5K and a 1-Mile Fun Run. To make this run a success, runners, volunteers, and donations are needed.
The members of Delta Sigma Pi have been working diligently on marketing to the people and students of Stillwater. We hope to have stories from students who have been helped by this new fund in the future. The Department of Student Affairs at Oklahoma State University have made it clear that they do not go through a full week without someone coming to them looking for help.

If you cannot be with us on the day of the run, there is always the options to donate. You can donate at philanthropete.osugiving.com where there are many philanthropies including this Cowboy Strong Run.
Without the help of other students at Oklahoma State University, like the students in Delta Sigma Pi, there would be little change. There is always the opportunity to make a change.
