Hobart and William Smith is an institution full of great, unique students, but who all have similarities with one another. These groups can be described by their styles, past times and maybe even their Saga meal choices. However they are classified, this piece can give you some insight into the types of cool kids you'll encounter here.
1. Jock
Not only do our student athletes keep the clothing section of the school store in business, but they provide campus with early morning jams during their game warm-ups. The best thing about HWS jocks? They travel in packs and are always wearing matching clothes so you know who's who. These students embody school spirit and display the true meaning of hard work-on the field and in the dining hall.
2. Prepster
Some could say HWS is the epitome of "preppy." The masses of bean boots that migrate across campus in the fall and the Jacks that take flight once spring comes prove this claim. The vibrantly colored pants and Lilly patterns really brighten up the place. These students are always looking sharp, either for class or maybe for a date on their sailboat.
3. Theatre kids
Often seen wearing the funkiest clothes and singing during their meals, HWS theatre kids keep this place alive. Giving the rest of the students opportunities to witness ethnic dances and to learn about social issues, these students use their animated personalities in all the right ways.
4. Clubber
There are many students who truly take advantage of all the wonderful clubs the colleges have to offer...literally all of them. How these clubbers manage to keep track of their millions of meetings and tasks is a mystery. We could all learn a lesson from these overachievers, whether its time management or how to remember every student's name.
Whatever category you fall into, or even if you don't conform to any of these, each student at HWS has a place. This campus wouldn't be as diverse and compelling as it is without every individual characterizing it. So thanks for being you, whatever you are!
