When comparing a student to a student athlete, it is almost as accurate to describe the comparison between oranges and apples. The two are simply different in the way they manage their time and contain passion for different subjects and activities in high school or college.
The Twitter world has gone quite insane this past week, roasting on student athletes and the way they respond towards any conversation. The twitter world has portrayed these so called ¨Student Athletes¨ as overly obnoxious and dedicated, but as a student athlete myself, I find this quite hilarious. If people are going to judge you for being an overachiever and beyond passionate, then let them be. But in the meantime, let's enjoy a good laugh.
The ¨Tweeters¨ are quite passionate themselves I'd say. From the tweet above we can see that this student athlete is attending the dentist, but receives the wrong idea from the dentist, thinking that the dentist is trying to stop him from achieving his athletic goals.
The key to these memes and their sense of humor are the emojis… what would a meme be without the emojis that make everything 'One Hunnid,' I guess you could say. But the purpose isn´t necessarily to bring any athlete down. Let's face it, us student athletes stick out in crowds, and maybe you aren´t one of those who constantly tweets your goals, and updates your followers on how you´re going to be D1 bound someday, or maybe how you hit the gym every night, or eat that straight protein diet. However, these tweets have highlighted a common theme in every student athlete, passion.
Therefore, if you have the passion...Never stop #GRINDING. Did you know that more college students tend to complete their four years and receive a degree when playing an NCAA sport, ,¨...The likelihood of an NCAA athlete earning a college degree is significantly greater; graduation success rates are 86% in Division I, 71% in Division II and 87% in Division III¨, according to NCAA.
Strive for what you want, and laugh at those memes while they´re still popular, because you are only a college athlete once.
