This week, I decided to go with a creative piece, and share a little bit of my poetry. I really enjoy using all lowercase letters in my poetry. It makes it feel more real to me, somehow, more of myself and from myself. Everyone deals with loss. Some encounter it and are able to cope better. These words strung together depict a little bit of my experiences with it. Here's my poem, titled "loss."
loss.
a pit
not round and smooth
or able to produce fruit
but
hollow and dusty
with shadows of
memories
when remnants
of your broken soul
sting more than they did
last year.
when fear conquers
your sleep
your eating habits
your intake of liquid -- both helpful and hurtful.
cold
alone
hurting
confused
unsure of where to go
or where to be.
"just hold on a little while longer,"
but how long is a little while
and when does it become
a big while?
when is it okay
to lose hope
to stop waiting
to stop wishing
to become silent, solemn,
and give up the fight.
