Growing up with freckles has been a pain and a blessing. As a kid, adults would flutter over me, raving about cute my freckles were. But the kids... that's another story. In preschool, I was dubbed “Freckle Face.” I used to despise my freckles. At five years old, all I ever felt was grief because of my freckles. Now that I’ve grown, I've come to love my freckles. Some days, I still feel insecure, but most days I barely notice they're there.
1. During the summer, they get really dark.
I'm naturally pretty pasty, so during the summer, my skin is like a lobster and my freckles really stick out.
2. “Beauty Marks” are significantly darker than the rest.
I have five “beauty marks” that stick out so bad compared to the rest.
3. Some days, my freckles make me look like an Oompa Loompa.
There's nothing more fun than looking like you just got a bad spray tan.
4. They cover every inch of my face...
Hence, the oompa loompa look!
5. And my shoulders...
Yep!
6. And my chest...
Uh huh!
7. And everywhere else.
Pretty much.
8. Covering them with makeup can be a pain.
I feel like I'm caking on $50 worth of makeup when I try to cover them. I can get close to hiding them, but I can almost never fully cover them.
9. When people play “Connect the Freckles!”
This is probably the most annoying thing in the entire world. You end up sitting there, and anytime you try to move, they adjust you so they can keep playing.
10. When I get bored, and I start playing “Connect the Freckles.”
On the other hand, it's really entertaining when you're bored.
11. We tend to burn really easily.
I have two skin colors: tomato and albino!
12. Showing off your body in a bathing suit can sometimes be extremely awkward.
How many times have you seen a movie with a beautiful actress or an attractive male wear a bathing suit, and they're covered head to toe in freckles? Not likely. Yet all the "nerdy" characters often have freckles. Why?
13. When people think they can count your freckles...
Let me save you the time now... there's a lot. Now take your paws off my face!
14. Sunscreen is your best friend.
Forget the tanning oil. Sunscreen is your best friend if you have freckles. If I don't apply sunscreen every half an hour to an hour while outside, not only will you look like a tomato but, like, a hundred more freckles will smother your face the next day.
15. Speaking of sunscreen, what's the SPF?
For those with freckles, they should make an SPF 1000. I wouldn't complain.
To those with freckles, some days may feel like a curse because your freckles may clash with an outfit, but in the end, your freckles make you, well, you.
