12 Struggles Of Going To The Gym In College

Being away from home, it can be hard to continue some of your routines when you're at school. Eating healthy can sometimes seem impossible and going to the gym is a whole other thing to consider. At home it may be convenient, close by, or just something you naturally know to do. At school there are so many other things going on all the time that you simply may forget or get sidetracked by homework, sorority things, or just sleep. Here are some struggles we all face when it comes to working out:

1. Getting the Motivation to Go to the Gym

How long has it been since I've worked out? Maybe I should go... on the other hand, I could stay here...

2. Trying to Find Friends to Come with you

Most of the time it is easier to follow through going if you have other people going too. They can also push and motivate you while you're there.

3. Choosing What to Wear to the Gym

If you think you're going to see people you know do you chose to wear "nicer" athletic apparel? Grab your Lulu Lemons and Soul Cycle gear.

4. Actually Getting Yourself to go After Getting Dressed

It's so easy to be dressed and just end up sitting on your bed for hours.

5. The walk to the gym

Having to get there is a workout in its own, and if you can find a ride you may as well go to Eppley.

6. The lack of machines

You finally make it to the gym to find there are no machines open and you feel like crying.

7. Seeing Everyone You've Ever Met

Always an unwanted social hour leading to you trying not to make eye contact.

8. People looking at you while you workout

Leave me alone.

9. And Looking Gross as they Look at you

Sweat, sweat, and more sweat.

10. Realizing you Have to Walk Home

If you have really good friends maybe they could pick you up, but otherwise, you get a whole other workout!

11. Getting Home and Trying not to Eat Something Unhealthy

But if you do eat something unhealthy, working out means it cancels out right?

12. The Aftermath

Being super sore for days because you haven't worked out in so long.

Next time you go to the gym think about how many struggles you have overcome and what you are about to achieve. And if you do not usually workout, I'm hoping that this article inspired you to head to the gym!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
