Hello, fellow introverts! People constantly misinterpret our personalities, and it makes life super awkward. Frankly, most people do not understand the reasons behind choosing to be alone sometimes. Here are five daily struggles of being a loner.
1. You give off the vibe that you hate everyone.
No, you do not hate everyone. You are simply an introvert, but people seem to take it the wrong way. You may actually like people, but no one ever understands it. People just constantly get the wrong impression of us introverts, and it is pretty sad.
2. People are constantly concerned about your social life.
You are happy on your own, and you don't need a ton of friends but nobody ever gets it. Your friends constantly urge you to branch out and meet new people, but it's just not your thing.
3. No one understands why you choose to be alone.
There are many possible reasons as to why you prefer to be alone but people always assume it is something negative. Everyone seems to think that being alone is a bad thing, but it's not to you. There is nothing wrong with being introverted, yet your friends seem to think so.
4. Headphones save you when you are trying to avoid socializing.
You just do not feel like being social but no one seems to understand. Your headphones become your best friend when you desperately need some alone time. People who try to talk to you while you have your headphones on are your worst nightmare.
5. People thinking that you got stood up when you go out for a meal alone.
You simply wanted to eat your meal alone, and there is nothing wrong with that. People assume automatically that you got ditched, even though that is not the case. Sometimes people will even be worried that you are having a crisis. A super awkward situation, especially if you just wanted to eat your food in peace.
6. Group projects are your worst nightmare.
Why on earth would anyone choose to work as a group? You ask yourself this constantly. You prefer working alone because you do not want to face consequences for another's actions. Knowing that you could get something done much faster alone makes group projects rough for you.
7. You love your friends, but you also enjoy solitude.
Having friends is great, but us introverts love being alone as well. There is something so pleasant about enjoying and taking advantage of the peace and quiet. If you could, you would choose to spend more time alone than with others, yet life does not always allow that.
8. People try to force you to be more social.
Your friends consistently try to expand your number of friendships, but it may be unappealing to you. You are happy with a small group of friends, and you wish they understood that.
9. People think that you have low self-esteem because you're not social.
It is impossible to be introverted if you have low self-worth, but no one seems to understand. You have to have a good relationship with yourself to spend so much time alone. People always seem to worry about you instead of cheering on your impeccable self-love.
Being alone is great for some of us but not everyone understands. Which of these five have you experienced?
