11 Struggles Of Living With An Overweight, Needy Cat

My brother is a cat person. As for me, I’m a dog person.

Only a few months ago when I moved in with my brother, I also moved in with his overweight, needy, attention-seeking, 6 months-year-old orange cat.

Here are 10 signs I live with a cat:

1. Cat fur is found all over my black clothes.

Lint rollers are my everything. I have them everywhere with me.

2. My background noise when I'm home is a constant loud purring sound.

Whether I’m watching Netflix, laying in bed, or writing an article, the purring NEVER stops.

3. All my furniture is ruined.

"We can’t have nice things.” Couches, dining tables, blankets are all scratched up. I once tried to do something about it but realized... it's hopeless.

4. I'm always being attacked.

He wants to play 24/7. Often times, I can’t even walk around the house without my feet getting attacked. There are some mornings when I’m grumpy and late to work, but of course, half of my time getting ready is spent yelling at the cat to leave me alone.

5. I have had to buy multiple new earphones and phone chargers.

I wake up to a pile of wires on the ground and one chunk in his mouth.

6. He gets up everywhere.

Climbing and jumping from one furniture to another. Once again, his fur is found EVERYWHERE.

7. I never have privacy.

If I close the door to keep him away, I see his two little paws reaching under the door for hours.

8. Can’t have any string dangling anywhere.

Let's just say some of my clothes with ties and lace are no longer wearable.

9. I have to sleep around him.

He’s SO FAT that he takes up so much of the bed.

10. Wake up to him ON my head.

Some days I wake up at 5 am to something weighing my head down...I have learned to put him out and sleep with the door shut.

11. There's never a dull moment.

He always manages to find random plastic shopping bags to make his new toy, which most of the time he gets his head stuck on the handle part.

I'm definitely still a dog person. But I have to admit... the cat is pretty darn cute at times, but yet sometimes so freaking annoying.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
