I'm 4'11. 90 lbs.
So what's it like to be so small in the big world?
It sucks actually.
But I've learned to live with it and I'm growing to love it. It's not easy looking 14 years old as a college student. "You'll love it when you're older." I know my other petite friends out there have heard the exact same thing. So how do I deal with it? Easy. Every kid my age tries to act like an adult. Even though we know, damn well, we are NOT. So, I'm out here faking it too. I'm pretending I know exactly what I'm doing, trying to act more mature despite my appearance. Here's a list of struggles most petite young adults experience:
1. Always being mistaken for a younger age
2. Not being able to see at concerts
3. "You'll love it when you're my age!"
4. Getting carded. Even at the sample food carts in Costco
5. Getting hit on by 15-year-old boys
6. Answering the door and getting asked "Where are your parents?"
7. Not getting taken seriously at the grocery store.
8. Or any auto repair shop
9. Getting weird looks at the vet when I'm there with my cat alone.
10. Getting weird looks when I talk about credit scores and taxes
11. That look you get when you say your real age
12. Having to pull out my ID because they don't believe me
13. Not being tall enough to see over the desk of the front office
14. EVERYONE WANTS TO PICK ME UP. DO NOT.
15. Being too short to properly push a grocery cart. Some of those things are tall, okay.
16. Having a step-stool in every room.
17. "I could literally throw you across the room"
18. "Can I try to bench-press you?"
19. Always being in the front row/far corner of the school picture
20. Forever and always will be known as "adorable"
