Whether it be Twitter, Facebook, or any other sort of social media platform, hashtags play a huge part in creating a worldwide language. One popular hashtag these days is #goals. This hashtag is used in context of relationship goals, fashion, house, or school; every category has a specific goal that everyone looks toward.
I admit. I have fallen into the trap. I have wanted to have the best looking Instagram or the best pictures of Facebook or the best tweets on Twitter. I have wanted to put videos up on Youtube (I have started but haven't gotten very far) and be famous. Now, I am not saying that it is unimportant fur us to have goals.
There are people that we should look up to and goals that we should achieve. Humans need goals in order to get things done and achieve what is needed to live -- such as getting good grades in order find a job after college. Yet have we actually sat back and looked at what we are really rooting for?
The intention behind goals are what we need to stay mindful of. If the goal does not motivate you to hustle and strive to make that goal into a reality, why are you paying attention to it? Like couples pictures, today's society has seemed to be striving for one word: perfection. The goals are no more than strides to be the perfect person that has it all together whether it be the perfect relationship or the perfect bedroom. The #goals that we are trying to achieve are setting us up for failure. When we put our goals and our trust in that, we will never be happy. There will always be moments of striving for something that will never truly fulfill us. Why are we setting ourselves up for something that will never bring us true joy?
Why focus on something that will set us up for failure?
