I have been there and it sucks.

The Striking Truth About Going Home
Shayen-Joe Sakr

It is no secret that going off to college changes a person. College is a journey, and it is truly life-altering. One thing I did not realize when I moved away to college was that things back home would never be the same again. It is a realization that makes your heart sink at first, but with time you come to accept the change and embrace your new life.

I went home for the first time in the beginning of November. I was thrilled to be going back after nearly two months of being away, but once I had been there a whole day I was anxious to get back to school. I was undoubtedly happy to be with my family, but things did not feel right. Everything seemed the same, but I no longer felt like I fit in. This was a terrifying feeling because it made me question whether being home made me happy anymore.

The contrast between being away at college, and being home was one I could not ignore. I had gotten used to being away so being back home where I did not have the same freedom and the same surroundings threw me off. The entire time I spent home I just wished I was back at school.

My theory for why I felt the way I did was that I have become a different person, and I no longer enjoy my old lifestyle. This, however, was not true. Yes, I had definitely changed as a person, but that does not mean that I suddenly hate being home. The truth is being home would never feel like it once did, but you have to learn to adapt because you cannot avoid going back.

It is going to suck when you go home for the first time after being away at college for a long time, but remember that regardless of how much you have changed you will always belong. It is important to acknowledge that you now have two homes, and even if one does not feel like home anymore it does not mean you should disregard it. It is understandable that you have grown as a person, and might feel uncomfortable being home at first, but make an effort to allow yourself to enjoy being home because your family definitely enjoys having you back.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
