It's now getting closer towards the end of the semester, professors assigning homework all at once. You're tired, drained, can't think and just need that little bit of push to finish out the semester strong. The end of the semester can be stressful and you can and will survive if you keep a few tips in mind.
1. Make a schedule. Start preparing by making a schedule for the month. It is generally better to be overly prepared than to be underprepared. Always plan ahead, and it will make life less stressful. Keep yourself on a system and break your work into parts to get everything done on time.
2. Prioritize. Prioritizing is key and procrastination can set in very easily, and definitely can become a bad habit to break. It is very easy to want to hang out with your friends and want to be social but remember, academics come first! Occasionally professors will assign homework or projects on holidays and breaks. Although your ideal spring break is to be on the beach and enjoying your break, your assignments are to be made a priority.
3. Take breaks. Breathe, take breaks when needed, and find a quiet place to relax and regroup. Taking breaks is healthy and if you need to rest don't hesitate to do so. Do not go overboard with the time frame of your breaks. 30 minutes to an hour is good time frame to relax.
4. Get some rest. In the midst of trying to cram work in and memorize course material, students easily get stressed and have high levels of anxiety. Get some rest before you take any test. It's better to feel refreshed than exhausted the day of your exam. Don't stress, take good care of yourself and eat well!
5. Expect great results. Several times as students, we study to memorize without understanding, rather than study to understand and learn course material. Studying to understand will actually help you get better results on your academic performance. Also, ask for help when needed and communicate with your professors. If you even need to set aside a study group definitely do so! Just simply do your best.
Remember: keep everything in perspective and have realistic expectations for the rest of the semester. It's only a few weeks left. Hang in there guys, we are almost there. Enjoy the rest of your semester and forget about those end of the semester blues!
