I have heard numerous times from so many different people that college will be the best and worst four years of my life. Times change and you become your own person as you begin to navigate your new life, but as you begin this long journey there is something makes you feel as if the world is collapsing around you. It’s something that plagues me on a daily basis. Stress is something that is thrown at you with little to no warning, and you’re expected to deal with it and go on with your life, but what do you do when you’re not exactly sure how to deal with it? You read articles like these, or you unload everything onto your best friend. Most of the time you don’t care what makes it go away as long it disappears and leaves you alone.
Recently, stress has played a major role in my life as it does so many other college students. There are a lot of different things that you have to learn how to juggle. You start to feel as if you’re behind in everything as your homework and studying pile up until the point where you feel as if you’re buried. There aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you want to, still have a social life, and still get a decent amount of sleep each night. But if you manage your time correctly, it can reduce the stress of feeling over booked. This is something that I struggle with especially, but I have discovered that writing everything down can help me reduce my stress level and chances of procrastination which leads to stress.
Another thing that gets me through stressful times is spending time and sharing laughs with my friends. Sometimes they keep me from going over the edge. Friends are the people you turn to when something goes south or you feel so stressed that you think everything is falling apart. Personally, my best friend has kept me from blowing up on so many occasions the world should be thankful. I find that just talking to people about what I'm going through can make my stress start to vanish because most of the time they can relate and offer advice.
There are so many different things that can help relieve stress and keep you going instead of falling apart and eating a tub of ice cream. Find a way to get rid of your stress, and you'll live a happier and healthier life. It may seem impossible at times, but it's important for you to not let the stress keep you from achieving your goals or living your life. Find that one thing that keeps you going whether its bowling with your friends or listening to Christmas music in October. It doesn't matter as long as its leagal and makes you smile.
