Trust. It’s something that we as followers hold dear. It’s what helps keep our faith alive. But when it comes to the grime of it all, can we really say we trust in the Lord?
Throughout my life, I have found that trusting in the Lord will result in prosperity. However, recently, I have found it to be incredibly difficult to trust in the Lord. How can I trust in God when I witness just how evil this world can be? Relatives are getting sick, parents of my friends have passed, the streets are filled with people without a home, and more -- sin slaps us across the face.
I am currently reading "The Problem of Pain" by C.S. Lewis (who is literally the bee’s knees.) Lewis comments that God is beyond “good” and “evil." He is so much more. Pain comes when we fail to realize that. When we face bad, we think that God has failed us. News flash: He NEVER fails, and never will fail.
When I tried to take life into my own hands, well, to be blunt, I f***** up. You see, life with God does not result in instant gratification, something I think our generation thrives on. No, God does not respond instantly. But He is eternal. We have a God of eternity, and we get Him at all times. He has given us a story of unimaginable LIFE -- if our story is a story of trust, it will breathe life.
There isn’t a formula when you trust God, but there is hope. And that glimpse of hope is what enforces our trust in the Lord. If you abandon trust, you inevitably will lose hope. And living a life without hope is not really living.
