As of recently, it seems like the whole world is primarily focused on bad news.

If you turn on the T.V., flip open the newspaper, or even just check the internet, the media is reporting all these horrible events.

And when I say bad news, I mean stories that make us lose our faith in humanity. Don't get me wrong, it's great that everyone is becoming aware of the corruption and atrocities that take place...but it just seems to me that that's all we ever hear about anymore.

In fact, in my gender studies class the other day, there was a young woman who called herself a cynic and declared that she had no more hope for us.

While my professor respectfully saw from her perspective, he claimed himself as an optimist and mentioned that yes, there is indeed a lot of negativity in this world. However, on the other hand, there is also a lot of positives to balance it out.

We just don't hear about them as much.

Which got me to thinking...maybe it's time I do some research and spread good news.

To be honest, I have both pessimistic and optimistic mentalities; I think the two go hand in hand pretty well actually.

But if I had to pick, I would say I'm more of an optimist. I try to see the good in people because I don't believe that human beings are truly terrible at heart. You can say I'm wrong, but I like to think that humans are inherently born with good and pure intentions, and that being evil is a learned social behavior.

But I digress.

As I searched for happier news to share, I found myself pleasantly surprised when I discovered that there were new segments and websites dedicated to spreading positive news. Here's a few that tugged on my heartstrings.

1.

There's a Boston dad who sets a good example for his kids by still surprising their mom, his ex-wife, with flowers, cards, and breakfast on her birthday. After being questioned by many people about his actions, he decided to explain in a Facebook post.

He said, "I'm raising two little men. The example I set for how I treat their mom is going to significantly shape how they see and treat women and affect their perception of relationships."

You can find his Facebook post and read more here.

While we're on the topic of dads writing sweet Facebook posts...here's another Oklahoma man, Royce, who wrote a heartbreaking and beautiful tribute to his wife's selflessness in a viral post.

Keri, his wife is pregnant with a baby girl, whom they've named Eva. Unfortunately at their 19-week ultrasound, they learned that their daughter did not have a brain. Approximately around this same time, Royce went to New Orleans for NBA All-Star Weekend and met an inspiring young kid, Jarrius, who was in need of a liver transplant. And that quickly sparked an selfless idea in Keri. She would continue to carry her baby girl full term and donate her organs to another family who needs their own miracle.

Royce ended his post with, "It hit me that not only am I married to my very best friend, but to a truly remarkable, special human being."

Okay, so this one isn't a particular story, but I'm a huge sucker for romance, so it was a necessity that I include this. In the midst of my searching, I found an article from The Huffington Post about couples seeing each other for the very first time on their wedding day.

So if your belief in true love needs to be restored or you're wondering what it looks like to marry the love of your life...check this article out here. Seriously. Take a look.

Future husband...we better make this list in 5-10 years.

Under unfortunate circumstances, this young girl's father was no longer around to take her to the father-daughter dance at school. So her 17 year old brother decided to take matters into his own hands and accompanied her to the dance himself.

In regards to his relationship with his sister, he said, "We have to depend on each other ... I don’t have a dad either, but I’m older and wiser, and I stepped in because [she] needs someone to take care of her."

He even won the Best Dad award at the dance. Awh.

And finally, you might have already heard about this current story where a Jewish cemetery was vandalized. After hearing that approximately 200 graves were found tampered with and knocked over at Missouri cemetery, two activists decided to create an online fundraiser that tremendously surpassed their initial goal of $20,000.

Organizers on the fundraising page wrote a message of unity: "Through this campaign, we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate, desecration, and violence in America."

Currently, they have raised over more than $160,000. You can find the fundraiser and donate here.

While these are only a select few of the many good news that our society has to offer, I hope I've inspired you to focus on positives, not just the negatives in life.

And if you can't find any positives, keep searching. I promise they're there.

Or better yet, you can be the light and be the reason there's still faith in humanity.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
