There are a million and one things we can be doing with our lives rather than wasting time on trash boys, negative friends and being stagnant in our day to day life. If you are a twenty-something millennial like me, then this article is for you. You are probably somewhere amidst your final years of this drawn out education and looking back on the past four years of life realizing that things have dramatically changed…or for some of you they haven’t.
The hardest thing to break is our habits, and nine times out of ten you don’t really realize how poor your habits are because you’ve been living with them all your life. Well, with the next few years being your years of freedom…let’s break the habits and stop wasting time.
Boys. The single most important subconscious thing we are most likely all thinking about. You're probably single and thinking about your dream man or in a relationship wondering if it’s going to work out. Then there are the unlucky few who are stuck in the “what are we phase.” Well, here is my two cents.
Drop them.
If your heart is not one hundred and ten percent into the boy in front of you, he is not worth it. Chances are he’s probably holding you back from something you’ve always wanted and out of fear of losing him, you decide not to pursue a dream or goal of yours.
Emphasis on this next statement: “IF IT IS MEANT TO BE IT WILL WORK OUT. IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT YOU WILL FIND SOMEONE BETTER.”
Friends. It’s always a love-hate relationship because you appreciate certain things about them and can’t stand the other things about them. A silent killer with friendships is settling for mediocre friends. I’m not talking about the mediocre stereotyping of “I can’t hang out with them because they are a nerd.” No, I mean mediocre friends that either one, make you feel inferior. Two, only come to you when it’s convenient for them. Or three, are always in a negative state of mind.
Stop settling for friends that you don’t benefit from. Just like any relationship, it is a two-way street that needs to have mutual value. You are at the stage in your life where you need to be a little bit selfish and cut ties with the friendships that are not making you a better person.
Life. I feel like every flicker that sparks a flame inside my brain is from a life quote. One that stood out to me the most and the reason why I wrote this article is:
“Ten years from now, make sure you can say that you chose your life, you didn’t settle for it.”
Let’s stop wasting our time on silly boys, lame friends and a boring life. Instead, let’s adventure, meet new people and create amazing memories; because in ten years, you’ll be thanking me for this article.
