This article's title may make a few unhappy and I can understand why but don't talk about the water crisis in Flint Michigan unless you live in Flint or Michigan.
I worked in Florida when the water crisis was going on and hitting the national media outlets. My name tag said I was from "Michigan." I would have many people every day ask me if I knew about the water crisis or our "corrupt politician" I always wanted to respond by saying "Ma'am/Sir I do understand, I'm from Michigan and I know what is happening with our state and how the situation really is unlike every other American who want's to assume what it is like." Instead I said "Yeah, its a terrible thing, have a magical day."
I don't know how I could fit Flint being a terrible thing with telling someone to have a magical day, but I had to.
For those who don't know what happened with Flint they had a major lead poising in the water and it was unsafe for the residents to drink, cook with or even shower in. Many kids were sick and died from the lead poising. For every American wanting to blame just Rick Snyder, you are highly uneducated and must be listening to the 100 percent liberal side of the situation. As a neutralist, I can inform you there were more people involved than just Mr. Snyder. Regardless of whose fault it was, the outcome is still the same Flint is still in poor condition. For one, they have been noted as the #1 or #2 most dangerous city in the country either before or followed by Detroit. For Flint to have the water crisis it did was obviously a tragedy, one all of us can agree on. I don't think any government official would wake up one morning and decide to poison children of their state. While Snyder had a role to play as he signed off the emergency managers, the city of Flint decided to withdraw from the Detroit water system and enter Flint's through gaining supply through the Flint river. Flint was aware the water would corrode pipes and had salt in the water and they switched since the pipe line wouldn't be ready by the date the Detroit Water and Sewage Department said it would cut off service.
Following any news outlet you will find viewers who think Snyder should go to jail, I won't comment if I agree or disagree. I will disagree with someone not knowing what happened in Flint and make accusations against any political leader. To have knowledge of what truly happened in Flint you would need to live in Flint, and to have knowledge of general understanding of how horrible and extreme the situation is you would need to live in Michigan.
For the number #1/#2 most dangerous city in America a water crisis is not the best look for the city.
For the lives that were lost my heart is sympathetic to the families, and to the people who delivered water to Flint my heart is thankful.
P.S. Assuming how bad the water situation was in Flint and not living in Michigan is basically living in Michigan and commenting how horrible Katrina was. We as Michiganders did not live through Katrina while living in Michigan. There are people who moved from Louisiana to Michigan following the hurricanes and they understand the severity, but for those like me who were in any place but Louisiana during Katrina can not comment how horrible it was since we didn't see the damage first hand.
