Stop Stressing Over The Inevitable, God's Got This

"But the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful." (Mark 4:19 NIV)

Things happen.

Life crawls forward whether you're on the tracks or waiting by the wayside. We can't choose to freeze the moment in order to have more time to make decisions. We have to think fast, be quick on our feet, and pursue our own route towards happiness. Yet, the trip to fulfillment is challenging. Actually, it's nearly impossible. Everyone and everything will try to stand in your way when you feel like you've got it all figured out. That is because we never have it figured out. We don't know who our soulmate is supposed to be. We don't know if we will live to make it to the vacation that we have planned six months in advance. Realistically, we don't know anything about anything, and frankly, that is because we are human. We can't control the inevitable.

We frantically seek to alleviate future complications as if we know every trial that will be thrown at us over the course of our lifetime. The truth is that we can buy all of the health insurance that we want. We can fill our retirement funds to the brim, and we can analyze our horoscopes with the ones that we love to see if we will last forever. But, it's all a waste of time. I mean it. You don't know that tomorrow exists for anyone. We can't count on any earthly event, person, or opinion to ensure us that we are on the right path. All of life is a gamble, a game, and a test run.

The only one who holds the dice, the game maker, is God. God has his hand dipped into the waters of our everyday lives, and he will not fail us. Does that mean that we aren't faced with hardships? Definitely not. It means that all of our planning and worrying is essentially irrelevant. It doesn't matter how much money you have saved if the good Lord calls you home before you can spend it. It doesn't matter if you're a Capricorn and your partner is a Leo as long as the Lord sees that the two of you are fit for one another. All of the things that this world and society try to impose on us as being critical to our future well-being is laughable. Why? The only one who is the master of our future and holds our fate is far beyond the realms of this planet.

I'm not trying to discredit the precautions that exist in today's society, but I am trying to expose the truth behind them. Nothing we buy on earth can solidify our future. Every blessing is driven by the hands of God. Every tribulation is approved by him in order to test our faith. Therefore, our stress and desire to control the outcome of every situation is beyond unrealistic. It is borderline insanity. Don't misinterpret me. Human beings are extraordinary. We are teachable, adaptable, and intelligent. Of course, that is only because we are blessed.

We are only as prominent as the Lord allows us to be. He is the fabric behind everything, and anyone who is known as being relevant is only credible because he allows it. We shouldn't be so focused on trying to rule the world. God's plan will happen regardless of what we prepare to do.

Life is short. It is epic and tragic, and you can't avoid any part of it through wishful thinking or constant worrying. So, kick back and give the Lord the driver's seat for a while. He's been steering the entire time whether you acknowledged him or not anyways.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?" (Luke 12:25 NIV)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
