We are in a world that is more interconnected than ever before, and while there definitely are some upsides to that, the downside for most is that they are more self-conscious about who they are and how others view them.
People are constantly thinking, "Should I really post this? What will other people think of me if I post this? Maybe I shouldn't because I don't want others to look down on me or see me differently."
Why must we all second guess ourselves before openly expressing who we are to the world? Is it because of the fear that we won't live up to others' standards of how they think we should be?
Well, if you're like me and you've thought of this in the past, remember that you are amazing just the way that you are and WHO CARES if you post something that someone else doesn't like? There will always be people who won't like you no matter what you do. So don't live your life to please others. Live your life to please yourself.
We don't need more clones of Kendall Jenner wannabes or hipsters who copy celebrities and then claim that they started the "newest" trend. We need more people like YOU who are unique and have a specific purpose in this world whether you know it or not.
We shouldn't live to worship celebrities, copy everything that they do or others around us do, or live to just hate everyone and everything around us for making us feel so different. We should live to EAT, SLEEP, BREATHE and BE ourselves and we should be proud of it.
Own the person that you are. Who cares if you like anime or you like to wear neon clothes or that you like the same sex? If it makes you happy, then pursue it and forget what everyone else thinks. This is your life, NOT theirs, so quit living your life as if you were the same robot that everyone else is. It's not worth it.
The world needs leaders who follow their hearts, who believe in themselves, and who want to make a difference in this world. We don't need more people who are afraid to step it up in fear that the rest of the crowd might ostracize them. We don't need more people pleasers who just say what everyone else wants them to say.
If you are surrounded by people who keep bringing you down, maybe its time to find new friends. They are out there if you just choose to do something different and look for them instead of settling for whats comfortable.
I believe that anyone can be a leader, and that leadership starts with you. Lead yourself in ways that make you happy. Lead yourself into doing new things that you never thought you would be able to do before. Lead yourself into the life you've always dreamed of by simply putting yourself before the opinions of others.
