Stop It Already

What's currently happening in the world is absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking.

I don't get it. I really, really don't get it. I get that it makes me mad. I get that it makes me angry. I get that it makes me question everything we as a society deem to be humane. I mean yeah we're all people, we're all living on the same planet, but we are living in such different worlds it's not even funny. What's the point of even trying to function as a whole, if all we're going to do is try and break up the one thing we all share into pieces? What's the thing we share? Our home; the place that just so happens to be the entire world.

The thing that I don't get is, why is it so easy to make the world such a place where everyone is afraid of just going to Shop Rite or planning a vacation, but it's asking way too much to live in a world where individuals actually want to live in peace? OK, there's no such thing as perfection, understood. I'm not saying living in a world of butterflies and unicorns is what's going to happen here, but I mean is it honestly that hard to try and live in a world where we don't have to turn on the news and automatically get depressed? Automatically ignore everything humanity is causing us to witness? Automatically asking ourselves why hundreds of people are dying everyday, every second? I mean it's a joke, it really is a complete joke.

Maybe this is me just being a typical 18-year-old with an opinion, or maybe this is just me trying to explain that even thought that one thing the world deems to be impossible, which is simply us wishing to live in peace, not even actually doing just wishing, for we as individuals to conquer together and as one, when viewed in a separate light, it really doesn't have to be that hard.

The fact that the act of just wishing for world peace is something that is automatically shut down because of the fact that we as people are done with constantly hearing negative news, and seeing horrific sights all around the world, is so disheartening that I can't even imagine what someone feels, what someones senses, what someone thinks, seconds before another one of these world terrors occurs.

I mean, how do you expect an everyday individual to feel when they turn on the news and the first thing they hear is that hundreds of people lost their lives, and then the same day they're driving, put on the radio, and hear that there was a bombing. Honestly, how do you want that person to react? This can be taken as a rhetorical question or not, but either way, it's understandable why someone loses all the hope they have for simply wishing for world peace when all they are surrounded with is world terror. I get it, I get that. It's not easy to sit there and be expected to stay calm when you hear that a bunch of innocent lives were taken due to the ugliness the world is so eager to offer.

It's not going to be easy. This life just came that way. We were given no instructions, no rule book, just our minds, opinions, and humanity. What's happening in the world currently is absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking, 100%. But in order to not be discouraged, and to stop thinking that there will ever be a chance to reach a place where we as a world can actually get along, is a dream that I really am not going to stop dreaming of.

There's a way, there's a chance, there's always room for making this world became the home we wish for it to be. A home where we can feel safe, a home where we can actually turn on the TV and not have to hear heartbreaking and devastating news that innocent people have died.

It's going to happen, I believe it. We will one day be able to go home; a peaceful home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
