Stop Hurting The Teenagers

We need their potential, and they need our support and love.

Stop Hurting The Teenagers
Haven Clippinger

Since social media has become popular, I often see detailed opinions of what people post. There are several instances where I enjoy what is posted online, and there are other times where I am completely disgusted at the rude and hateful opinions that people have. In these past few months, I have seen people post on facebook about how "awful" and "needy and entitled" the younger generation is. I personally will never understand why an adult must complain about the generation. It is needless and completely uncalled for.

Here's the thing: They are listening. This needs to stop. How are we going to influence the generation when we are constantly complaining about the imperfections that occur within these kids? We are supposed to be role models to these kids, but we just love to bash them. It is very rude and discouraging to the kids. Instead of giving teenagers a stereotype based on their generation, how about we love and support them throughout every decision and every mistake? When we treat this generation poorly, we discourage and underestimate their potential. When we discourage them, we limit their great potential. We must stop spewing negativity to this generation, and we must start showing love and encouragement to unleash the great potential that is within them.

This generation relies on us to give them the support and expertise that they so desperately desire. This generation has so much love and excitement, and they need us to encourage the generation. Without them, this world would have no future. Without their elders, this generation would have nothing to strive to. The youth simply cannot grow if the generations before them are acting rude and disliking their every move. They need love. They need affection. They need an adult to hold them accountable. Do not discourage them so much that they give up on their dreams. They look up to us, and we only hurt them if we break that trust.

I know that I am a little biased, but i personally think that this generation is the best one yet. There is so much potential, and it makes me want to be a part in their growth. I know that they are the ones that will drastically change the world for the better, and we must witness everything they will achieve. Due to ample opportunities that these children are given, they will definitely impact the world. We must remember that none of this will happen if we continue to look down on this generation.

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you."
- 2 Timothy 4:12-14

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
