Stepping Out In Faith

Peter stepped into the waters. So must we.

Stepping Out In Faith
Abigail Konig

Do you ever feel like you're trapped inside of your mind? Like you just want to cuddle within your comfortable boundaries and not cross them? Me too, friend, me too. There are some days that I wish I could just remain silent and free of judgment from the world because of what I believe in. Somedays instead of proclaiming Christ's love from the mountaintops, I'd much rather just whisper about His grace.

But, our God is not small. He does not love us with a teaspoon, carefully measuring out how much love we can receive each day. He did not measure out grace when He died on the cross to save the world. No, he abundantly gives us grace and unrelentingly pursues us every day. He is not small and through His gift of forgiveness and love, neither are we.

We were created to do something magnificent. Within each of us is a plan more glorious than anything we've ever known. Fear is what separates us from it and from the love of God. It captures us and tells us that our tiny corner is safe and warm and much more rewarding than sharing the Gospel of Christ. We are convinced that instead of daring to be bold, we should be quiet and reserved and let others do the talking; it's much better that way anyway. What do we have to offer?

We have so much to offer. We have love, faith and the majesty and grace of the Savior. There is certainly nothing that He can't offer. What we need to do is step out in faith and claim the calling that God has placed on our lives. We need to shout His love from every mountaintop, every hill, every corner of this world. We need to radically love others and allow them to do the same. Like Peter, we must step out of our safe boat and enter the rough waters for Christ will be there to stop us from sinking. Faith will get us through.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
