In life, we are held to the highest standards possible.
Often times we are expected to be something that isn't completely true to who we are. When we go to job interviews, we are often so nervous that our true self can't shine. When we are talking to a person we are interested in, we try to make ourselves seem better. The fact of the matter is that presenting ourselves in an honest light has WAY better results than trying to overcompensate for ourselves.
This all starts with the people we surround ourselves with. Are we surrounded by people who make us worse than what we are? Are we surrounded by people who make us into a different person? We all have that one friend that acts one way around you and then acts another way around a different group of people. The issue is that we try to overcompensate because we don't truly think we are great.
I don't care what anyone says. You can have the highest self confidence in the world, but nobody is completely comfortable with themselves. Every single person can point out flaws about themselves. It is just human nature; it is inevitable. Due to this, it is also natural for us to try to make ourselves appear to be smarter or interested in things we aren't, just to be accepted. When saying this, it actually sounds kind of silly of us.
The funny thing about all of this is, when we see someone who is expressing their unique self, part of us gets jealous. There is something appealing about seeing someone who seems happy with themselves. We long to be the person who can stand up for what they believe and do it with confidence and grace.
You are amazing. Even if you don't believe it, you are. I promise that you cannot hurt anyone by being exactly who you are. You don't need to be anything or hold yourself to ridiculous standards. You don't owe anyone explanations for why you are the way that you are. You don't need to try and explain yourself. Pursue your dreams. Go out and be the person you long to be. Dream big. Don't let anyone stop you. Become the person that everyone longs to be; be unique. Be yourself. No one can be yourself better than you can.
