How To Stay Productive Over Winter Break

At first Winter Break is the best thing ever; finals are over, the holidays are in full swing, and you get to see all your friends and family. But after a couple weeks of only having one or two things to do each day you may be feeling bored. The best way to combat boredom is to be productive! So here are a few tips and ideas I have to at least feel like you're doing something important.

Utilize a planner or to-do list to keep track of the things you want to accomplish, this is the first step in staying productive during the break.

Wake up early: I swear this is key to feeling productive. While sleeping till the afternoon is reasonable once or twice a week over break, you will accomplish so many more things if you start your morning before noon.

Get ahead with your spring semester classes and learn a thing or two to jumpstart your way to an A.

Make some spare cash! Whether it be your job hostessing or babysitting, winter break is a great time to work a little and feel productive while doing so.

Volunteer! Rack up some volunteering hours over break. It’ll make you feel good and productive and benefit others in the process.

Fill out the FAFSA: Although this one isn’t all that exciting having it done prior to the filing deadline will be a weight off your shoulders.

Search for summer jobs and internships: It may seem a little early but that gives you an even better chance at landing a position for summer 2017.

SUCCESS! You have officially combated the winter break slump.

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
