40 Things I'm Going To Start Doing This Year

No, I'm not lucky, I'm blessed, yes.

1. Live in the moment.

The older I get, (Says the 16-year-old!) the more I realize that life is way too short to not enjoy every bit of it and to take advantage of all beautiful opportunities I come across. I'm so blessed to be here, and I just want to make the most of it.

2. Change the world.

My main goal in life! And for the better, of course. I just want to make the world a better place for everybody.

3. Ensure my future success.

The future is key!

4. Appreciate the little things.

Too blessed to be stressed.

5. Let go of all anxiety.

Anxiety destroys happiness, and I'm not about that life.

6. Form new relationships.

Life is all about making connections with the people around you. I don't know where I would be in life without my amazing friends and family, and I'd love to create more friendships in 2018 and get even closer with the amazing friends and family I love dearly.

7. Get closer with people.

The feeling of being super close to somebody is amazing because you know that they're always there for you and you are never alone.

8. Give my all in everything I do.

Nothing less! Work hard, play hard.

9. Be proactive.

Like Steven Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," you always want to plan with the end in mind.

10. Change

Every year is a new adventure. I want to be better than who I was last year, and love myself 10 times more than before.

11. Become better than yesterday.

Always. Every single day is a new opportunity to better yourself and create your best life. A quote that I absolutely adore is "Create a life that you don't even want to take a vacation from."

Make your life so utterly amazing that it's like a non-stop vacation - just with more hard work. Happiness, love, joy, excitement, passion, eventfulness, fun, all the things that make vacations so awesome.

12. Cherish every moment.

Every moment makes a difference. Waste no time being sad! Have no regrets.

13. Appreciate what I have.

Because not everyone has it.

14. Gain confidence.

Loving yourself has so many amazing benefits.

15. Dress for confidence.

Here's what I say; Anything is possible with the 3 H's. Hoops, heels, and highlighter. (Anastasia Glow Kit, of course!)

16. Be even kinder to others.

Even more so this year. Because you know what? Everyone is fighting a battle secretly that you may know nothing about.

17. Be successful in school.

I believe, and always will believe, that school is everything. Education comes before anything else. Because we genuinely are so blessed to have the right to an education, and I plan to take advantage of that and work as hard as I possibly can towards success.

18. Get involved in everything I can.

So fun! Honestly, getting involved in your school or community is just the best feeling. Create something you can be proud of, or work on an amazing passion that has your entire heart.

19. See the good in everything.

Because there always is something good even in the worst situations, if you look hard enough.

20. Cherish every moment.

21. Do more of what I love.

Reading, writing, dancing, etc.

22. Read and write as much as I can.

All of us are writers at heart. Some of us are just better at getting the words down on paper than others.

23. Make memories.

24. Take as many photos and videos as I can.

You always want to capture the good times. One of my favorite things to do is to go back and look at old memories. It always brings back fond, happy memories that you should be feeling your entire life. The warmth of summertime, or the love of family and friends. The serenity and beauty of the beach at sunset.

25. Spend as much time as possible being happy.

26. Live my best life and be the best version of myself!

No more anxiety! No more worries! Is it possible to be care free, while still being the most caring, composed, and compassionate version of myself yet? I want to care less about the silly little anxious things, and give 100% of my care to all of the important things in my life like my friends, family, career, education, the well being of the world and my community, and the people around me.

27. Use more words like 'babe' and 'love' because I genuinely think they're adorable and make people smile!

Please don't make fun of me, but I genuinely get butterflies in my tummy when people say those words. Like, you are adorable and I love you and you just made me feel so special! Those are the vibes I'm trying to give out.

28. Become a successful, independent woman.

29. Appreciate my education and educate myself to the highest degree possible (literally, Ph.D.)

Your education is so important, and it's what's going to take you far in life. You have to make the most of it and take advantage of it. Michelle Obama inspires me so much, because she has degrees from both Harvard and Princeton. Talk about an amazing woman!

30. Follow my heart.

It's always right.

31. Live to the FULLEST.

32. Use the philosophy "life is too short" in all actions I partake in

Because it is, and I just want to enjoy this life that I've been blessedly given to the fullest extent.

33. Further my education as much as possible!

A Doctorate Degree by the time I'm 30, please! (This is actually truly my goal!)

34. Volunteer as much as possible.

Touching others lives is truly a form of happiness in itself.

35. Make an impact in others' lives.

Especially those who are struggling a little bit right now. We can all use a little help sometimes and I would love to help others who have been through a lot and need a helping hand.

36. Do as many amazing, beneficial things as possible.

I just want to make my life as beautiful, happy, and as successful as possible.

39. ALWAYS believe in the beauty of myself, my dreams, and my future.

40. "Stay humble and hustle hard."

THIS is my quote of the year, I have declared it! I saw it in someone's Instagram bio, and I simply had to write it down. This is going to be the best year of my life, until next year, the year after that, and so on...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
