For the majority of the "basic girls," a highlight of the holiday season is the big reveal of the Starbucks holiday cups and, of course, the flavorful and festive drinks. This year there are eight different drinks to warm you up and get you into the holiday spirit! Also, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Starbucks holiday cups. Which flavorful and festive drink are you going to enjoy in one?

The 2017 Starbucks Holiday Cup

1. Gingerbread Latte

The gingerbread latte is made with steamed milk, espresso, and gingerbread-flavored syrup. It is then topped with some whipped cream and nutmeg. In this drink, the gingerbread taste is not too strong and if you aren't a fan of too sweet tasting drinks, this is the one for you because it's not as sweet as the peppermint mocha or the eggnog latte.

2. Holiday Spice Flat White

The holiday spice flat white is a twist on the original flat white which has been popular since Starbucks first launched it a year or so ago. It is made with two ristretto shots (a short shot of espresso made with the normal amount of ground coffee but extracted with about half the amount of water in the same amount of time by using a finer grind) and is combined with a thin layer of steamed milk and as you can see finished with a simple latte art dot. When the holiday spices of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, sugar, and tangerine are combined and added, you just can't resist this sweet, subtle, and warm drink.

3. Peppermint Mocha

The peppermint mocha is personally my favorite holiday drink at Starbucks. There is just something delicious about a mocha with peppermint flavor topped with whipped cream and either some festive red sprinkles or chocolate shavings.

4. Toasted White Chocolate Mocha

If you aren't much of a rich chocolate fan, this is the mocha for you. The white chocolate gives it much more of a sweet, yet subtle taste. It is made with a rich espresso and caramelized with white chocolate mocha sauce and steamed milk. As you can guess, it is topped with whipped cream and candied cranberry sugar.

5. Caramel Brulée Latte

The caramel brulée latte is made up of espresso, steamed milk, and a rich caramel brulée sauce. As pictured it is topped with whipped cream and caramel brulée topping. It is a delicious step up from the original Starbucks caramel latte.

6. Chestnut Praline Chai Tea Latte

The chestnut praline chai Tea latte is delicious! If you are a fan of chai this is a must try for you this holiday season. It is made with espresso and steamed milk as is every other latte, but it is also mixed with the flavors of caramelized chestnuts and spices. Just like the other lattes, it is topped with whipped cream and topped with something delicious...spiced praline crumbs.

7. Eggnog Latte

The eggnog latte as you can guess is a holiday favorite. It is made with espresso and steamed eggnog and topped with ground nutmeg to tie it all together.

8. Chestnut Praline Latte

The chestnut praline latte is similar to the chestnut praline chai tea latte mentioned above, but instead of the chai, it is made with just steamed milk, espresso, and flavors of caramelized chestnuts and spices. Just like the chai, it is topped with whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
