Coffee is a necessity for people everywhere. However, there are two coffee chains that reign among the rest when it comes to fast food coffee. And those, as you have probably guessed, are the conglomerates known as Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. The two chains are constantly compared to each other, but which chain is better?
Dunkin' Donuts
Pros: Dunkin's coffee is insanely cheap compared to other coffee chains. If you are on a budget, then Dunkin' is the place to be. And don't get me started on their iced coffee (which I consider to be an American staple). Also, if you live in or are from Massachusetts, your veins are probably filled with Dunkin' Iced Coffee. Also, Dunkin' is the main inspiration behind of one of the best "SNL" skits this season. I know that has nothing to do with their coffee, but hey, their coffee inspired an "SNL" sketch so that's pretty high praise.
Cons: If you like variety, Dunkin' probably won't do it for you. Even though they do have specialty drinks, the menu is not as gigantic as Starbucks' (but we'll get to that later...). And if you live on the west coast, don't expect to get Dunkin' for a while, since the chain is mainly from the east coast.
Starbucks
Pros: To say that Starbucks' coffee is different from Dunkin's is a massive understatement. If you love dark coffee, then Starbucks is the place for you. Their cold brew will wake you up immediately and the endless variety of coffees is, well, endless. Also, they even have secret menu drinks. Like, how much spare time do you need to have to come up with secret menu drinks?
Cons: Oh my god their coffee is expensive. $4.35 for a medium coffee? Really?! Don't get me wrong, their coffee is good, but it is not good enough for a medium to cost $4.35! Also, Starbucks has a history of creating drinks that are borderline ridiculous (*cough* UNICORN FRAPPUCINO *cough*).
The Verdict
After careful consideration, the best fast food coffee chain is (insert drumroll here)...
McDonald's! (Haha just kidding, it's actually Dunkin'. McDonald's still has a lot of catching up to do)
I get why people pick Starbucks over Dunkin'. The variety of types and flavors of coffee they have is endless. However, Dunkin' reigns supreme (for now) because of how good of a deal you get when you order their coffee. Their roasts are generally good, but the cheap price makes it better. I love both brands, but for me, Dunkin' is the best coffee chain right now. (Disclaimer: I go to school in Massachusetts, so the verdict might be a little skewed here. But what can I say? My veins are basically filled with Dunkin' Iced Coffe right now.)
