7 Things Your Starbucks Baristas Wished You Knew

We're happy when you're happy.

I decided to dedicate an article to Starbucks since I'll be coming up on six months as being a partner with one of my favorite companies. I may not know the ins and outs, but there are a definite seven things I do know.

1. We are humans, not just your baristas.

We make mistakes, and, contrary to what you might think, we are working as fast and as efficient as we possibly can to get your order out of our hands and into yours.

2. The Starbucks Secret Menu was not created by us.

That goes to say, if you found a drink that claims it tastes exactly like the butter beer at Hogwarts, or another one that might make it seem like you're still in pajamas eating Captain Crunch, then, by all means, please share the recipe with us and we'll be glad to make it for you.

3. Not everyone's idea of "light ice" is the same.

If you would only like six pieces of ice as your easy ice, be sure to let me know because my version includes a few more pieces than that and we wouldn't want your drink getting too watered down.

4. If we ask you to repeat something or if we repeat your order back to you, it's not because we're trying to be rude nor are we trying to make fun of you or your drink(s).

Most of the time, it's really because we didn't hear you the first time. We have espresso machines grinding beans, blenders whirring, headsets on, and so many people talking to us all at once. That being said, if you're the passenger ordering, we most likely will ask you to repeat it unless you're speaking through a megaphone.

5. Our seasonal drinks are not offered year-round.

A lot of our drinks, especially if on the secret menu, are made by combining a bunch of different syrups together to get the most perfect combo. However, our special, seasonal drinks do not consist of those, such as the forever-mentioned-and-always-wished-for pumpkin spice latte.

6. If you're going to be talking on the phone while ordering in line, you can order online - hooray for the option of mobile ordering!

We want your time with us to be easy-going and for you to get exactly what you want and we understand that you have places to be and people to see. However, if you're on the phone while trying to order, there won't be clear communication.

7. We are your baristas.

We are humans, also as I have stated. However, if you have questions or concerns, let us know. So, if you need suggestions, we are happy to supply you with ideas. Or, if you are unhappy with the drink you got, let us know and we'll be happy to remake it or even make you another one.

All of that to say, we are trained in preparing for you the best possible drink made fit for exactly what you want and we're happy when you're happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
