Friendship is watching a "Star Wars" marathon for 21 hours. Whether you were there for two hours, fourteen, or all twenty-one, you’d still have the best time.
A perk of having a boyfriend is that all of his friends basically become yours, and the same goes for him. That being said, my best friend and I were invited to my boyfriend’s best friend’s "Star Wars" marathon. In my boyfriend’s quad of friends, they had been planning this event for almost five years and it was finally time to happen. The "Star Wars" marathon would go as follows: "The Phantom Menace," "Attack of the Clones," "Revenge of the Sith," "Star Wars: Clone Wars" (volumes one and two), "Rogue One," "A New Hope," "Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," and finally "The Force Awakens."
I have a problem with getting places on time, which means by the time my friend and I got to my boyfriend’s friend’s house, they were already an hour into "The Phantom Menace," which I was not too sad about missing. My boyfriend’s friend was live-streaming the entire event which means a lot of the commentary we made is somewhere on the internet. For the first two movies I remember a lot of laughing, complaining, and talking about other things.
By the time we got to the only prequel that matters, a few people had left and a box of pizza and pop’ems had been eaten. The entirety of "Revenge of the Sith" consisted of laughing at "Daddy Ani" and how utterly silly the movie was. The third movie seemed to go by fast, but not as fast as the animated series from Cartoon Network in 2003. I slept through the second volume as a power nap because I knew I wanted to stay awake for "Rogue One."
Did I stay awake for "Rogue One"? Of course not. I was so mad at myself when I had found that I woke up as Jyn and Cassian shared their not-so romantic last moments and the evil redemption of Darth Vader took place. My best friend seemed to be sleeping forever, and one of my boyfriend’s best friends fell asleep next to her, cradling her feet. I then remember staying awake until mid-way through "Empire Strikes Back," that time having woken up because of my boyfriend’s tossing and turning.
My boyfriend, my best friend, and I headed home before "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens," but we had so much fun. Spending time with our group of friends is never short of entertaining and sweet. Whether it's birthday trips to Black Tap or making sexual comments about Padmé and Anakin, we’re truly a force to be reckoned with.
