If you have a twitter account, you most likely know what it means to have a "stan" twitter account. However, if you don't, it's basically like having a fan account for an artist, band, tv show, etc.

It's become a recent trend for people in stan twitter to dig into celebrities', or just people who have a large following in general, past in order to find things that they've done that could be considered "problematic" by today's standards. Then they become "canceled," which basically just a slang way of saying that people should no longer support them.

This needs to stop.

Yeah, there are definitely certain things that cannot be excused, regardless of how long ago the events had taken place. But most of the things that people dig up and "spill the tea" about aren't things that people should be shamed for, especially if they were things that were said or done when the celebrity was super young.

For the most part, people grow, both emotionally and intelligently. It's not fair to cancel someone who made these comments or completed those acts years ago, especially when they were most likely uneducated or misinformed or even just the typical, stupid teenager/kid.

It is honestly so toxic to do this to people because you have to give people the chance to grow. No one is perfect. Everyone says and does stupid things, especially when they're young. But if you keep bringing up someone's past and locking them into this mindset that they aren't allowed to change, that's just not okay. You should want people to grow and become more educated. You should want people to become better people.

Why in would anyone want people to stay problematic? That is just something that I will never understand.

Also, let people apologize.

We have all said things that we didn't mean or just in the heat of the moment. Sometimes the things that we say or do without thinking isn't a genuine representation of who we are, our values, or what we believe. This isn't always the case, but we need to realize that celebrities are also human. They make mistakes just like we do. And we shouldn't hold them to higher or unfair standards just because they're famous.

However, if the celebrity in question is still making the same comments or doing the same actions, then, by all means, cancel them. If they haven't grown and learned from their mistakes, then that's grounds to cancel someone. If someone is consistently being racist, sexist, homophobic, or anything else that is considered problematic, that's also the type of person that deserves to be canceled.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
