The Stages Of Recruitment

Recruitment can be a very emotional and stressful process for all parties involved. There are a lot of late nights and early mornings, thousands of breath mints and Redbulls, and plenty of chanting. It doesn't matter if you're a sophomore on the chapter side of recruitment for the first time or if you're a senior thinking that this is your last first day of recruitment ever, at some point during the following days you will want to cry and or scream because your face hurts from smiling too much, your hands hurt from clapping too much, and your feet hurt from standing so long. But in the end it's all worth it because you've recruited amazing new girls into your wonderful sisterhood.

1. When you see all of your sisters in the same place for the first time since May.

2. You practice your first round chant and it's super cute and the excitement of recruitment hasn't worn off yet.

3. But then you practice the same chant like 30 more times.

4. But then you get your bump group and you realize that you're the best thing that could ever happen to a PNM.

5. Wearing that fresh Letter Shirt on the first day of class (even though its probably an 8am class you're still excited).

6. When you catch yourself having serious RBF while passing potential new members.

7. First Round has arrived! You are so excited to talk to the girls going through recruitment! Some times you have an instant connection and a great conversation with a PNM.

8. But other times you don't.

9. You feel like you've been in rounds for forever and think you're almost done! But then your VP of Recruitment tells you that you've only done four out of fifteen parties.

10. First Round is finally over, you feel proud of yourself because you managed not to have a mental break down because of way too much pep and caffeine.

11. But you then you realize you have to do it all again tomorrow for Philanthropy Round.

12. And you have to be there by 8am and be peppy and pretty!

13. You've been in the same dress and heels for five hours now, you're hungry and it isn't time for lunch yet so you reach for your 52nd mint of the day.

14. You've made it through 2nd round but now Sisterhood Round is here and it's like those creepy dudes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer have stolen your voice.

15. You try to stay peppy but it's getting harder and harder to remain sane. In your mind you're somewhere sipping wine in norts with your sisters.

16. And by the time Preference rolls around you can't feel your feet.

17. It's the end of the night and your last round. You somehow manage to find of burst of energy knowing it's almost over.

18. The pressure is off of you and now it's all up to the PNMs. You wait patiently (or not so patiently) to see if your Rush Crush made it through.

19. It's finally Bid Day! All of the hard work was worth it because now you get to welcome so many amazing new members into your perfect sisterhood.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
