After being home for a few days from college, I realized that the transition isn't the same as coming back from a week long summer camp. It takes a lot more patience, communication, and a whole lot of love. I may find myself wanting to go back to college, after only being home for a short week, but deep down, I'm happy to be home. So here are the stages of moving back home for the summer as told by the most famous, Chrisley family.
1. I'm Tired and Just Want to Sleep
It's not that we are lazy, it's just that we go to bed at 3:00 am and wake up at noon every weekend. Our sleep patterns are a mess and our internal clocks are all out of whack.
2. When you Check Your Bank Account
When you start to regret the amount of money you spent on delivery food at 2 in the morning, the amount of online shopping you did in your economic class, and the amount of college apparel you purchased the first week of school.
3. When you Realize the College Eating Patterns are Not Going To Work All Summer.
Eating your body weight in ice-cream and Dominos pizza probably worked in college, but you start feeling sick when you're eating it alone at home. Delivery food was much more fun in college.
4. When Your Parents Ask What Your Summer Plans Are
The awkward and stressful moment when your parents ask what your summer plans are and you are unsure of them yourself. You're too broke for anything fun, but college was too fun to have a boring summer.
6. When Your Parents Put Their Foot Down
When you finally realize that you're back to living under the rule of your parents, forced to obey their curfew and household rules. This means chores, a reasonable bed time, and a lot less social events.
Constantly missing your college friends and updating social media every few minutes to see how they're doing...But getting in trouble for the excessive phone usage.
8. Little Family Disputes
Back to sharing a bathroom and a car. Back to eating dinner with a family and not at 10 pm.
9. When You Realize You're Happy to Be Home Because You Love Your Crazy Family
It may be an adjustment, but you are so happy to be back home with your crazy, loud family. And, with a positive attitude and a little patience, this can be the greatest summer yet.
