College is great...until you find yourself nearing finals week.
To get from one good holiday to another, we have to first experience the five stages of finals:
1. Denial
“There’s no way it’s already the end of the semester! The calendar must be wrong. Finals cannot be in just a few weeks! You know what, that’s still far away. It’ll be okay. I don’t have to worry about anything.”
2. Anger
“Why me?! It’s not fair that I have to take all these finals! These professors are ridiculous! They cannot expect me to ace all of these exams and still be a properly functioning human."
3. Bargaining
“Hmm...if I just do the bare minimum and read here and there, I can easily get finals over with. Then it becomes winter break, and if it becomes winter break, I’m closer to spring break, and if I’m closer to spring break, then I’m closer to summer break, and if I’m closer to summer break, then I’m closer to next year, and then the year after, and then graduation!!!”
4. Depression
“Oh, man…I am not prepared at all. I’m not going to be able to finish everything I have to do. Why bother studying at all? I’m just going to fail all my exams anyway. Then I’m going to fail the course, and then I’m going to be jobless forever, and then die alone with 30 cats…IF I can even afford that because I’ll be poor and ugly. Why didn’t I try harder?! I’m so stupid.”
5. Acceptance
“Alright, I have to take these exams regardless. I’m going to go into these finals and try my best. I’m just going to accept whatever grade I get, because I don’t really have a choice anymore. Let’s just get through this and then I can relax this Christmas.”
