It is nearing the end of Winter break for us college students. I thought I would create a relatable article about the stages we go through. It may not be true for everyone, but it is extremely true for me. Who else knows this phase all too well?
1. Finally, it is over!
We have been looking forward to winter break practically since the semester began. Especially during finals week. The underworld hath frozen over. The sweet relief of surviving the last few months and being able to take showers without shoes!
2. I miss you
After about a week you start to get messages from your friends telling you that they miss you. And you start missing them too. When you're at campus you get homesick, but when you are home you start missing your friends.
3. Always staying inside
Since you are home, you do not have to walk to get food every day. You start to get even more lazy because you do not have urges or the ability to go out places. Unless you have a car, then lucky you. You still feel alone because you are not surrounded by a bunch of people.
4. Holiday Spirit!
The excitement of the holidays and unwrapping gifts! Christmas music heard everywhere. Everything seems to be going well. It's the part of break you are always looking forward to, but it goes by so fast.
5. It is almost over
All your friends miss you and you miss them too. You start getting really bored and long to not be home anymore. For whatever reasons they may be.
6. Do not end!
You remember how miserable school actually was and a month of doing nothing really makes you a lazy bean. The back and forth of these emotions is a vicious cycle that will not end!
7. Hurry up and end
YOU. JUST. WANT. TO. BE. FREE. THIS WEEK IS NOT GOING BY FAST ENOUGH! The cycle just does not seem to stop!
8. You leave tomorrow!
All this procrastinating and you have to quickly pack everything for the hundredth time. You practically live out of a suitcase.
9. Do not make me go back!
For some reason, you just do not want to go back. Your parents practically have to drag you out. So not ready for all the work you about to drown in. You could fill the Grand Canyon with how many papers and books you have to read this semester.
