I've always hated sitting in class for an hour and 15 minutes. Always. It literally feels like years. So, I've always opted for MWF classes instead of TR. However, I'm not an accounting major. That means I don't have much of a chance to have no Friday classes. So, every single college semester, I've had class Monday through Friday. This seems like a whiny complaint, but it's kind of a pain when all of your friends can have fun on Thursdays, but you have class the next morning. So, for my last semester, I decided to plan out a week where I didn't have Friday classes.
With my major and minor, the only way I was able to do this was to only take Tuesday/Thursday classes, with 15 hours. I was kind of worried these days would kill me (five, one hour and fifteen-minute classes in a row), but with three weeks left, I've survived. People always ask me how I can handle those long days, and it's a totally easy answer: four-day weekends, every weekend. And this week, Baylor has Diadeloso, a holiday on a Tuesday, so I get to enjoy a six-day weekend. So basically, it's another spring break for me (if only I didn't have a billion papers to write).
There are so many benefits to having a two-day school week and only a few downfalls. In my opinion, the only negatives are having to pay attention for that long and getting hungry. However, those are easy problems to solve. Prepare for class so you don't feel behind, and pack some awesome, filling snacks to get yourself through the day. (I go for Bolthouse Farms protein smoothies, protein bars and pistachios.) Side note: You can't go without having coffee and breakfast in the morning. You just can't.
So, with only a small amount of negatives, the benefits are awesome. I've already mentioned my four-day weekends. But I also have all day Sunday (because most people are busy studying Sundays anyway), Monday, Wednesday (and Friday if I want), to get ahead and prepared on my schoolwork. The only reason I ever struggle in the classes is because I decide to procrastinate -- it's definitely not because I don't have time. While everyone is in class on Mondays, I have time to go to the gym (LOL, sometimes...), go grocery shopping when it's not crowded, do my laundry, and do all of my homework. In addition to this, as a graduating senior, I've had the opportunity to drive up to Dallas on Mondays and Wednesdays for job interviews without skipping class. This has been extremely beneficial and, honestly, my favorite part of the whole situation.
With all of this being said, if you want to do college right and you're able to, TR classes are the way to go.
