Lets face it: this time of year is the most difficult time for all college students.
Whether it is the draw of the beautiful weather outdoors (some days) or the fact that summer vacation is just around the bend, a lot of students feel the need to let those textbooks collect dust . Burn-out is at an all time high, and the last thing we feel like doing is another assignment.
But of all times during the academic year, the time is now to sprint to the finish. Take a minute or so to think about where you see yourself in 10 years. Perhaps it involves working for your ideal company, or having the bankroll to invest in your own start-up. Perfecting the skills that enable you to endure are developed during your college years.
If you don't not learn the work ethic to pursue your goals in college, when do you plan on developing them? Let me tell you, waiting until you graduate to kick in the afterburners may turn out to be too late. So let's discuss some strategies to combat burnout as the semester winds down so you can close out your year on a high note.
Organization/Time Management:
A lack of organization has a direct correlation to burnout. When someone is unorganized, they tend to forget they had an assignment to complete, or a responsibility to cover. A lack of organization is a sure fire way to stress yourself in these next 3 weeks. Don't be one of those people.
Sunrise Calendar App:
I utilize the Sunrise Calendar App to aid me in my organization and time-management. The Sunrise Calendar app is much better than Google calendar ( I know that may be tough to believe) but look no further. The calendars unique layout make it possible to sync with your social media accounts to pull in other scheduled events to keep everything in one spot (TechHive).
Fitness:
Maintaining your fitness this time of year where stress is an all-time high is critical. Integrating fitness into your daily routine can take your mind of your studies to recharge your mental energy. You will find yourself being able to focus longer and harder following a workout. Its about as easy as going for a jog in between classes.
Good Health/Diet:
Focusing on a healthy lifestyle is key to assure you have time to prepare for all your exams coming up. Shoot for 8 hours of sleep daily. My track coach always told me that its not the night before a race that matters but two nights before. You can eat/drink whatever you want just do it in moderation. You can let loose once the semester is over. Try to study away from where you usually like to hang out and/or sleep. Separating the two locations from one another allows your brain to settle in based on where you are.
P.S: The reply to that Snapchat can wait until after you're done studying.
