10 Reasons Why Spring Should Be Your Favorite Season

It is finally here. Spring starts this week officially and I could not be more excited. It is the season about renewing, cleansing, and new life. So if you are slammed with work and feel like you are in a mid-semester slump, here are 10 reasons to cheer up.

1. Warmer Weather

Nothing feels better than shedding your winter coat and watching the snow melt away. I love layers as much as the next person, but it I just feel so much freer without them weighing me down. It's the perfect temperature to go outside for a picnic, play some football, or just go for a brisk walk without breaking too much of a sweat.

2. Sunshine

Oh sun, how I have missed you so. The sun just makes the day so much brighter -- literally and figuratively. You can finally get some of that Vitamin D naturally. Just always remember to wear sunscreen!

3. Longer Days

Although I'm not too happy about the sun shining in my room at six in the morning, there is much more I can do in a day. I still have time after classes to spend a couple hours in the quad catching up on reading or running around the neighborhood before the sun goes down. I have more of an incentive to not stay cooped up in my room all evening like I did all winter.

4. Rain

Okay, so it may not be a gorgeous sunny day all the time, but rain is great too! Don't be scared to get a little wet. Jump in puddles, get muddy, and have some fun. If that's not your idea of fun, enjoy the calming sounds of the rain from inside. It can be very therapeutic to just take in the sounds of nature. Whatever you are feeling, just know at the end of the storm there will be a rainbow.

5. Blooming Flowers

With all that rain and sunshine comes new life. The leaves on trees are budding, flowers are blooming, green grass is growing. Nothing is more beautiful than nature during spring time. If you're in need of some creativity or color, step outside for awhile and take it all in.

6. Baby Animals

This may be the most exciting at least to me. Who doesn't love baby animals? It is a great time to go to the zoo and see all the newborns or even in your backyard. There are always bunnies, squirrels and birds mating like crazy, so there should be a bountiful of cute little critters running around.

7. Spring Cleaning

It's about time to throw out that old sweater with a snag and those stained paints. Cleaning is not my favorite activity, but we are not animals and a little tidying up would us some good. So dust off your desk, reorganize your closet and sweep the floor. It will feel so much better and accomplished afterwards.

8. Easter!

A break from school, chocolate, colorful eggs, chocolate, cute bunnies and chocolate! I don't think you need another reason to get excited about this great holiday.

9. Spring Clothes

I've been dying to show off my new spring dresses and rockin' shades. Spring is the season to show off your style. Light colors and fabrics feel great and look great. Plus it is an excuse to go shopping!

10. Summer is Soon

If none of the other reasons appealed to you and you hate spring, well good new. Summer is less than half a semester away. Poolside tans, beach waves and concerts are coming. Let that be your motivation to get through the rest of the school year.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
