As I laid out on a blanket in my front yard, sunglasses on, only shorts covering my legs, and my face soaking up the sun, it finally felt like spring has arrived. I was so excited this year when it was 70 degrees in December, foolishly thinking that the winter will be short and mild and the spring weather would be here in no time.
My optimism slowly dwindled when it was two weeks into April and I was regretting bringing my winter coat home as I hugged my North-face running home from class. I have been spending my days dreaming of running outside in shorts, picnic with my friends, and some day parties of course. And now, finally, I was able to comfortably walk around in shorts and a t-shirt.
Spring is beautiful. Flowers start to bloom, birds begin chirping again, everyone is out and about. Sitting on my porch I notice how everyone around me acts as well. All my roommates are back outside playing sports, families walk by, dogs are running by, and everyone seems to be happy. I love seeing how happy the sunshine and good weather makes people, including myself.
I think that is why I love spring so much, for the mood it brings. Winter is a hard time; it's cold, dark, and honestly depressing. Then spring comes and changes everything back to normal. The vibes it brings are incredible and empowering.
Here's to you, spring. Keep the degrees climbing, the sun shining, and the people happy.
